6/10 AA193 LAX-HKG currently delayed 14hr 20min causing 6/11 AA126 HKG-DFW currently delayed 16hr 40min (next day) I’m on 6/12 AA126, so I’ve been keeping an eye on this route as it has had 2 significant delays in last week. |

It was a pretty bad storm. Lots of downed trees, crane collapsed downtown, many still without power. I was on AA1747 SDF-DFW dep 16:40 but we had a ground stop for over an hour, then took off. After landing were told it'd be at least 1hr to get a gate, and it ended up being well over two hours. Apparently some of the jetways were damaged from the storm? The car rental place was a zoo; my original assigned car was long gone, so stood in a huge line to get another because Avis doesn't think they need anyone working the Preferred desk late at night. Very grrr. Most hotels are full due to stranded pax and locals who lost power.
Another bad day today, with about 8% of flights cancelled. Similar problem at PHL, with very bad weather. |

More storm/weather incompetence...
I was traveling PHL-GRR yesterday (6/10) on AA5165. Delayed 45-60m due to inbound, no biggie. Board up get under way to GRR. In speaking with some of the people around me, I learned that there were around 10 passengers that were previously cancelled/delayed/etc trying to get to DFW. AA had found them seats through GRR - nice outside the box thinking. We were delayed as I said, but not bad they would all make their DFW flight at 2:25PM. Landed at 1:36PM and we're taxiing only to end up taxiing over to a remote parking position. Pilot says "due to congestion on the ramp, we can't access our gate yet." Finally pull into the gate at 2:24PM - DFW flight is scheduled at 2:25PM. DFW flight was at the adjacent gate and the jetbridge still connected, so I assumed they were waiting for these 10 passengers. After getting my valet bag, I decided to drop over to that gate just to see what happened.... you guessed it - there were 10 angry people now stuck in a random city with no seats going anywhere near DFW. Oh, and the DFW flight they missed? Yeah, got to gate in DFW 13 minutes early. fAAil! |
