I'm guessing that the delays are (mostly?) weather. It is unimaginable to me that the union would orchestrate an organized slowdown after the judge's last ruling, as it would subject them to enormous financial penalties -- and this particular judge seems quite likely to order those penalties.

That said, on a historical basis, there still is a modest uptick in maintenance write-ups at AA.

If you look at the numbers, AA's operation does seem to be decent these days when the weather is OK. They are still pre-cancelling almost 1 percent of their flights, though, which is higher than what UAL or DAL does, and which I presume is related to a higher-than-normal number of maintenance issues.

6/27 AA1282 SAT-DFW Delayed 6 hrs for MX and WX

Had to sit at SAT for almost 8 hrs and my back is still hurting from those chairs. Even walking laps didn't help.

Obviously missed my original connection and did not get into SFO until after the last bus so I ended up renting a car one way to get home.

Your post is absurd. Union slowdowns have nothing to do with the comfort of AA's aircraft (which, by the way, is about the same as it is on their major competitors). The mechanics unions don't give a hoot about your comfort and convenience as a passenger. It's about themselves, and how much money for how little work their members will get. There's a reason why our country's overall economy isn't structured this way. These shenanigans are bad for everyone. But USA airlines are stuck with the arcane provisions of the 1926 Railway Labor Act, and these stupid delays will pop up at every airline ever so often. And then they get resolved, and the world goes on.

If they are forcing you to be uncomfortable for 8 hours instead of the normal 5, than the slowdown definitely has something to do with comfort

Cheers,

But, many people connect there, so that might make some of them more than 4 hours delayed.

6/27 AA96 PHL-BUD turned around over Canada and returned to PHL 5+ hours after takeoff. Looks like the flight ultimately left at 10am on 6/28 arriving about 15 hours late. Return flight AA97 on 6/28 cancelled (plane will fly AA97 on 6/29 instead).
6/28 AA96 PHL-BUD cancelled.

Is KOA is even open at 1.17am?? That's a full 4 hours past the last scheduled mainline arrival (WN), and 3 hours past the last Mokulele flight.

I would be pushing for an interline re-accom at this point....
