Status Challenge promotional (targeted) offer

Courtesy of eyi: Sign into your account and look under promotions to see if you're targeted.

Must sign up prior to travel. Ends 15 May 2019.

Courtesy of Pedro M:

“You've been selected to receive free American Airlines AAdvantage® Gold status through May 15, 2019, where you'll experience all the benefits of Gold status. Plus, elevate your experience with ten 500-mile upgrades just for registering — no strings attached.

Want to keep Gold status or earn an even higher status through January 2020?
Earn the following Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs) and Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) between the date you register and May 15, 2019.

Elite status level - EQMs needed - EQDs needed

Gold 25,000 7,000 $3,000 $850

Platinum 50,000 12,500 $6,000 $1,500

Platinum Pro 75,000 20,500 $9,000 $2,400

Executive Platinum 100,000 35,000 $15,000 $5,000”

There is now second targeted promotional.
Based on reports here, it requires travel by 25 Sep 2019, and provides status through Jan 2021.

Makes a lot of sense.

Data brokers know more about you than you know about you. Not just status with other carriers, but your exact spend pattern.

Comping Gold, Plat, or PP costs AA $0 and it may win some people over. In particular, the free stickers simply mean there are more people competing for the same number of F seats.

gold is useless. at least with platinum you have access to oneworld sapphire lounges (with some conditions/restrictions), priority baggage delivery, and complimentary main cabin extra seats

if you are gonna switch over as a frequent flyer, then a status match challenge may be a better value.

I was targeted (surprising since I thought AA couldn't get rid of me fast enough). I didn't see a promo code. It was in my account when I logged in and I had to click "register".

Based upon data AA buys one's name that is considered a possibility of a long term status relationship. At worst AA gives away some benefits for the next six months. Of course if the recipient signed up and didn't fly all that much AA isn't out all that much. I assume their data shows they end up with more future long term elites from these offers than people that might take advantage of this benefit for a few flights or so, never to be seen from again.

If you click the Terms and conditions of the offer you should see the promo code.

Disagree. AAdvantage Gold gets:

1. Free checked bag on all routes.
2. Free MCE at T-24 (if any MCE seats remain).
3. Free same-day standby.
4. Zone 4 boarding.
5. No $75 close-in award-booking fee.

Just got offered AA Platinum Pro for free. Registered, and it worked. Could select MCE seats for our upcoming trip LAX-OGG-LAX. Thanks AA for those 10x free MCE seats!

A question on lounge access, I know that on domestic flights as an AA elite flyer there is no access to AA's own lounges. However, is there access to the Oneworld lounge at LAX?

I'm AS Gold and am on track to requalify this year.

Was AA Platinum Pro last year but flew only a couple times crediting to AA. Status completely lapsed, and they kept emailing me the $700/$1300 status buy offer.

Now I get the Platinum Pro offer.

Travel with free AAdvantage® Platinum Pro status through September 25, 2019.

Plus, keep your status through January 31, 2021, by earning:

  • $2,400 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and
  • 20,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs)

I got the offer as well. I was everything at some point on the old US (CP on down) and Plat and Gold on AA. Travel was viritually nonexistent at work last year, so I fell off the wagon - making it only about 13k EQMS and $2300 EQDs. So I was back to gate louse.

Got the offer for Gold and 10 stickers.

I have until Sept 25 to earn any of the following and keep it until Jan 2021:

$850 EQDs and 7,000 EQMs for Gold
$1,500 EQDs and 12,500 EQMs for Platinum
$2,400 EQDs and 20,000 EQMs for Platinum Pro
$4,000 EQDs and 35,000 EQMs for Executive Platinum

If I ever go the long hauls I used to get, I could knock that out in one TPAC. /sigh

Is this new? The challenge doesn't require flights to be on AA metal. Looks like any flight marketed by American, American Eagle, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Japan Airlines. Am I reading this wrong?

"Rules:
To extend your status, earn qualifying EQDs and EQMs when flying on eligible tickets for flights operated by American Airlines or marketed by American, American Eagle®, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Japan Airlines between the date you register and September 25, 2019."

My fiancée was targeted for free Platinum Pro.

Glad she got it even though she rarely flies, but it pisses me off that I spend easily 10X what she spends on flights and never get targeted for anything.
