Flying HKG > LAX (AA192) on 4/18 in discounted business. Ive requested the F upgrade using a BXP3. Any chance that clears?

That flight is F0 right now... meaning there are no F seats for sale and F is currently full. So your odds are slim. But things change all the time, so it's possible.

SWU or 500 mile sticker?

An agent said SWU has priority for cleaning upgrades. I thought it was status and EQD once you get to the 100 hour window?

Does anyone know for sure?

Status is always the first criterion. Within that (so, between two EXPs, for example), it's instrument upgrade (SWU or Miles+Co-Pay), then within that it's 12-month rolling EQD. Should be same at 100-hour window.

This week's upgrades for me:

1) AA 91, LHR-ORD, 788, Thursday afternoon/evening, Y-->J via Miles and Copay, called in and requested/cleared with C space showing at around 36 hours before departure

2) ORD-DEN, 738, Friday afternoon, complimentary upgrade, cleared at 100 hours

Cleared DCA-SDF and SDF-CLT-DCA today for Monday 4/1, about 102 hours before each flight.

Again puzzled but not complaining that I cleared the CLT-DCA segment at the window given that it's now J1 and the upgrade list is typically quite long at the gate (this has happened each of the 10 Mondays I've done this trip since January). This is also the first time I've cleared the SDF segments at the window; those are generally empty but have been clearing at 26-28 hours until this week.

Can any of our resident JFK experts help me out - which of the non-LHR European routes is the easiest to clear an upgrade on generally speaking?

Best of 2 options for SWU

EXP here, coming back from LHR on a Friday in late May - trying to decide whether to fly to DFW and then onto SNA or go for LHR-LAX.

Flown the latter many times and mostly cleared but was about 200 on the list around thanksgiving! Never done the DFW route.

What do do people think? LAX or DFW best for upgrade chance? I see there is an 8:40 on the 77W for DFW, I’d of thought that was a good bet for an upgrade even on a Friday?

AA #194 PHX-LHR this Sunday, March 31 (Inaugural flight) B772

Yesterday- 11 Seats available on EF seat map
J7 R7 D7 I0 W0 P0 Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 G7 V7 S7 N7 Q7 O7 E7
Today- 11 Seats available on EF seat map
J1 R1 D1 I0 W1 P0 Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 G7 V7 S7 N7 Q7 O7 E7

I know seat maps don't reflect true inventory, but find it odd that seat map doesn't change, but availability does? Also, AA.com is selling one seat in with D fare. Wouldn't the last seat available be a J fare? Been trying to clear a SWU since tickets went on sale. Has anyone noticed anything similar with seat and fare availability? Hoping this flight will be an easy upgrade moving forward, especially for connecting to the AM bank of BA flights.

i was thinking of taking that flight originating from SNA (on May) - my other options are LAX or DFW, can’t figure out the best options for a SWU - less demand but less capacity on the PHX route.

I am on this flight too and waiting to see if I can get a SWU seat. Currently in 13J. Woke up this morning hoping for aT-36 upgrade or thought that they would release them over the weekend.

They sure seem to be holding onto the business class seats until the last minute. Frustrating!

I set an alarm for T-26 and sure enough, just cleared in time for preorder. Looks like you and 3 others in PE did as well.

Now showing:

Just called to make another reservation, and asked about the chances of an upgrade. The agent said there was only one seat "left for sale." When I checked my new itinerary then went to the itinerary for tomorrow, it indicated my class of service on AA 194 tomorrow afternoon was business, but without a seat assignment. The entire middle two rows in the second cabin of business + the last two seats in the front cabin were unassigned. Despite the yellow rating on SeatGuru, I chose seat 5 D. Seems odd, but I'm happy!

DCA-MIA 4/4/19 - cleared at T-100 (+1 companion)
MIA-SJU 4/4/19 - cleared at T-104 (+1 companion)

Interestingly for both flights, they cleared down to J0 with full cabins (including 767 on MIA-SJU), and there's very little J availability for purchase even on other flights on Thursday. This is a total 180 from 2-3 years ago when the computer was broken and almost nothing was clearing at the window.
