Why different thread? Its about connection and MCT at JFK!
my connection in MIA isn't illegal and thats not the relevant part of the question
My connection in JFK is 90mins (NAS-MIA-JFK one PNR JFK-LHR second PNR)
land at JFK from MIA at 18:30 and flight to LHR is 20:00
As far as I was aware MCT at JFK on AA domestic to International is 75minutes
I have 90.
The question really is, is the connection achievable with checked bags in JFK!

Not sure why you are in a huff at someone trying to help you. I misread...'Currently land at 18:30 from MIA and due to take off at 20:00. Is this achievable?' as being the connection in NAS-MIA is 90 minutes. Sorry to make you so upset.

As for your JFK connection, is it achievable? Yes. Is it likely? YMMV, but I would say no. You need everything to go perfectly.

Think of it this way... You will need to deplane, get to baggage claim and check in, all in less than 30 minutes. (AA has a 60-minute check-in/bag drop time for all international flights.) Check in will be no problem as you can do it online. But, 30 minutes to taxi, deplane, get to baggage claim, take your bag up to the counter, wait in line, seems very tight.

And all that assumes no delays. A landing delay of 5-10 minutes + taxi delay of 5-10 minutes and you are probably not going to make the 60-minute baggage cut off upstairs.

----------------------
Of the last 11 flights...
6 landed 6:33 or early
5 landed 6:54 or later

So you would have missed the baggage cutoff at least 50% of the time. (And at least 2 of 11 you would have missed your connection, even with carry on only.

Not in a huff. Thanks for the advice will go hand luggage only and stand a better chance of making it.
I normally leave plenty of time and was originally on the 22:20 out of JFK but my boss wanted me to change it (he's on same connection) so we can make it to appointment in London earlier! I'm more 'not happy' about the situation of making it too tight a connection in an already busy airport.
We could have had an earlier flight from MIA but sadly it was full, that would have solved everything!

On time + No bags + Global Entry + Pre-check?

No problem what so ever.

If any one of those is not true, you start to get risky.

Definitely possible, potentially risky. Apart from the above, also depends a bit on time of day - what time are you arriving/departing?

A few questions - do you have checked bags? What time of day do you land? Do you have Global Entry? Checked bags will slow you down after clearing immigration. Time of day is important as well - early morning international arrivals in JFK are generally the South American routes, early to mid afternoon are Europe arrivals. Global Entry will help speed you through.

Thanks

No, you have to exit the terminal and take the street side AirTrain. Walking can be done, but its complicated. Lastly, you might check the thread below for information about AA at JFK too.

Since T8 is the only terminal on the OTHER side of VW exp., walking is not a good idea (especially if you have luggage).
On June 7 at 1:30 pm the inner loop AT was not working; to get to T7 (from T8) one had to take AT to Federal Circle, reverse direction, take AT into JFK, circle loop to get to T7.
Was there EVER a shuttle between T7 and T8?

I don't think there was a shuttle in the past. Like every train network in the NYC area, issues (inner loop AT 6/7).

thanks. Yes, there used to be at bus from behind the security area at T9 I think- but that was at least 10 years ago.

Anyhow, thanks for the answers

I just had to award ticket changed to DCA-LGA on AA connecting to JFK-DOH on QR with a 3:45 MCT. Looking online looks like MCT is 4:00. The agent on the phone made the change and the award is now ticketing. Is this a legal connection? Will the award ticket? Would I have any issues?
