I had two SWU cleared for LAX - HKG on 10/25 today. I had to call once I got an alert from Expert Flyer for 3 C seats available. Crossing fingers for flight back to clear using miles on 10/28.

For the Elite qualifying dollars in the past 12 months, do they count the dollars spent for flights you took in the past 12 months, or the dollars spent in the past 12 months for future flights?

Flights you took as EQDs don't post until you fly.

Then after the flight posts, how often do they compute the last 12 months:
  • Daily?
  • Weekly?
  • Monthly?

Made EXP on 10/8 and status changed 10/9. So far I'm 2 for 2 on upgrades: BNA-ORD on Wednesday night (cleared a day in advance) and a battlefield upgrade this morning ORD-SNA. The Nashville flight was wide open when I got the upgrade so probably would have cleared as a PlatPro or Plat. Orange County this morning was J2 at check-in with a married couple at 1&2 and me at three. Weather delays into ORD meant we had a couple of misconnects so I got pulled up from coach. With our delayed departure, I wasn't sure if GA would come get me so when I saw that I cleared on the app I went up to the F galley to wait (since I have been skipped before after boarding).

Was dropped three unexpected Intl. work trip that I need to make happen before December 15th. Need to make client meetings:

SFO - ICN
SFO - FRA
SFO - SCL

Checked random days and am able to confirm in to J for outbound with SWU for all options. However, no luck with doing so on the returns unless I accept the domestic legs being confirmed only.

Will just have to pull the triggers on flights and wish for the best.

They won't confirm the domestic legs in advance and pull a SWU unless the long-haul leg is confirmed, as well.

Can anyone help me out here?

I am currently EXP, though my flying dropped off the second half of the year and I am only at around 40K EQM this year so far.

Either way, I am planning a trip to Tokyo in a couple of weeks (partially so I should at least keep Platinum status). Because it is shorter trip than usual, my company's travel budget is tighter and I essentially have the choice of flying back on JL in PE or using flying AA NRT-LAX-JFK using an SWU. The NRT-LAX route was immediately available for upgrade. The phone agent assured me that the LAX-JFK segment (AA32 on 11/2) would surely clear before the flight. Based on this thread I am not so confident.
Does anyone have any input?

Thanks,

Thanks!! Just thought it would a waste to not get ICN-LAX but have the LAX-SFO leg confirmed using the SWU for example.

Are there certain flights in which Co-pay and Miles never upgrade? Have ORD-PEK-ORD book and waitlisted with $$ + points, currently the outbound is 65% full in J, and the return is about 20% full in J, flights are early Nov.

Too early to tell. But no, there are no flights certain upgrade will "never" clear.
