Sorry to hear that And thank you for the reply. We got the flight, fortunately we completely ignored all advice from aa and called back and got put through shortly before noon eastern (maybe it posted at midnight a day later in hong kong time? Hard to come up with a reason for any other posting time between 8 and 1145 eastern).
No clue why this isn't more systematic for something thoroughly automated that occurs every single day! I understand aa agents don't really care that much but the amount of misinformation even among fliers discussing the subject is incredible.

I feel like AA agents are hit or miss. I have had some that would just say whatever it took to get me off the phone even if it was a complete lie and others that would actually check with supervisors and do everything they can to help me. I think the fault here lies with the AA training and management, because clearly the representatives on the phones are not being given the information thy need to accurately answer customers questions.

I'm looking at booking a BA F award ex-Japan to Berlin (via LHR) and checking the ITA Matrix tool I see the YQ would be about $USD 150 which does not seem too bad as this seems to be my best option for a premium class award using AA miles ex-SYD. (i.e. I would do SYD-NRT on JL in J as F not offered on this route, overnight < 24 hours, then BA F as above).
I just noticed that the BA YQ is a lot less when flying ex-Asia than ex-USA or ex-SYD - is this a discrepancy or what??
(Note I am looking at end May 2015 and cannot really come up with a better option considering current availability. I know EY is an option, even though it requires 2 awards to transit the Middle East but EY is currently only available in J ex SYD with connections from AUH to TXL on AB or other options via DXB).

Award Travel Planning
I plan to take some time off in August and would like to make the best use of my rewards mile to travel on AA or a partner airline. I'm open to location.
I've used the Award Map tool on the AA website to search for "where my miles will take me" and found it primarily returns AA flights and not Oneworld partner flights.
Is there a better way to see where I can travel on a certain number of award miles that includes partner flights?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry: BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.1030 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/417)
AA's Partner award chart (click on the "AAdvantage tab" at aa.com) will show you how many miles are required per one-way award between any two zones. But the chart will not tell you whether award seats are available on any particular route on any particular date. An award search from the aa.com homepage will reveal that, but only for the dozen or so "Participating Airlines" that aa.com supports for award booking. For other AA partner airlines, you must call AA, or use some third-party site.

Trying to fly US-South Africa next summer. Am I correct in saying that I can fly Qatar for 75K miles in J, but would have to get 2 seperate tickets for Etihad?

Leads me to really believe spg transfers 1:1.25 AS miles is better than the current 1:1.5 AA miles transfer (with bonus). Plus the routing rules allow for a stopover on 1 ways. I'd do one way qatar and one way using the AS miles, of course you might need to sign up for 2+ cc if your AS account is dry.
good luck!

Does anyone know if you can book Cinnamon Air flights with AA miles? They're ULs domestic sub. They're listed on the OW map as 'UL operated by Cinnamon Air' but I cant work out if they're a OW affiliate member.

Adding segments to already ticketed award..
Is there a $100 fee for adding additional segments to an already issued award ticket?
One agent didn't charge me when I added one segment.. and when I called in today to add another segment, this one wanted to and so I declined...
I'm Plat.
Would Exec Plats be exempt from this fee then?

As long as your origin and destination don't change, there is generally no fee for changing the routing, with a few caveats.
