Speculation: New Routes, Hubs, Flights (2017 Onward)
Because there is community interest in having a purely speculative discussion about whether other airports will pop up to become focus cities or hubs, new routes, etc. the following new thread has been amalgamated on this topic.Note:
Going: 9 A330-300, ER190, some older 757-200 and 8 767-300ER (leaving 17), MD-80
Coming: Remainder of 16 Boeing 26 787-8, 22 Boeing 787-9 (began later 2016). A320 family - 100 A321neo, and B737-800 (100 737-MAX8) aircraft.
See Cranky Flier article on 2016 fleet changes, AA-HP-US. Link.
Also see: HELP DESK: General questions about aircraft equipment, fleet, seats, IFE, etc.
Speculation fun time: Will xxx be the next AA focus city / hub? (consolidated)

Actually all I need is a Friday PHL-SNA routing that departs after 6pm and gets in the same day.
Not possible thru connecting due to SNA curfew.

AA shifted their second JFK-GRU daily to VCP, a ghost town of an international terminal, a few years ago. When the traffic didn't pan out, or Paulistanos didn't want to make the journey up to Campinas (or the incentives burned off), the route died.

YVR-ORD is a redeye.
Didn't work well when US tried YVR-PHL as a redeye. That lasted one summer.
And that was the only flight on that route.
YVR-ORD faces significant lift on AC & UA. UA also has a redeye.
Nice to have that extra option, but I don't see it working well. Maybe they can grow the market and end up with a second flight that will line up with the trans-Atlantic bank.

Also Brazil cuts which I think are in order to get the LATAM JBA approved because Brazil is not a struggling market anymore.
MIAGRU daylight gone (makes little sense, now the plane will just be parked)
MIACNF gone (surprising it’s a huge market)
JFKGIG seasonal
DFWGIG not coming back.
DFWUIO gone, too.

The MIA-CNF is my regular route. I have mixed feelings about this because the 763 is truly a clunker.
It's quite surprising since I see the flight almost full every time. May not be a high yield market but there's definitely demand there. The only logic I see is the JV with Latam so hopefully we'll see them filling the gap.

LATAM I imagine will quickly re-start MIA-CNF in the fall. Too huge a market.

Alright, I did not go through entire 60 pages to see if this was mentioned or not.
Morning NRT departre, AA 176 NRT-DFW 10:40 a.m. departure. Aircraft overnight at NRT for this flight. Let the partner JL do NRT morning departure for better aircraft utilization.
However, JL's NRT-DFW flight is 10:45 a.m. departure, 5 min. after AA 176. AA has overnighting aircraft at NRT ever since DFW-NRT went twice daily. Will AA continue to overnight aircraft at NRT?
