Just to add to the chorus, EXP agent told me (at noon PST) it was resolved a couple of hours ago and I had no problem holding 2 new tickets!

Just booked an F ticket on Cathay with AA

I think the issue is resolved.

Also for the first time going on the flight that stops in Vancouver. I am a US citizen so I will not have any problems with a visa correct? Sorry first time, if this is a stupid question. I assume no.

Thanks all.

I lost out on First on the way out, but was able to get it on the way home, although with the stopover and de-boarding in YVR. I'll keep my eye out daily especially as we get closer to see if F opens up. I have it on hold but think will book it tonight to be safe.

Let's finally close this thread!!!!

Issue may be resolved, but now I wonder whether AA has the same award availability as it used to. Today I tried to change a flight in july to a different day. I have F award confirmed JFK->HKG->SIN. I found availability on the new day I wanted using JL tool, but when I phoned AA they said not available. So I checked other sources... BA, QF and CX asia miles. All showed that the flight I wanted was available. Called AA again, but still they said not available.

Feels like a step backwards to me. I used to be able to rely upon JL/BA to determine flight availability for AA award. Appears not so any more?

Just got off the phone with AA. Wanted to move from CX 884 to 882 on the same day in January 2013. Availability in U (business) showed using JL method on KVS. AA saw the availability without a problem. Looking at KVS now, U availability is reduced by the number of seats I booked. (Unfortunately, the seats I cancelled are not back in award inventory on 884.) I wonder if the agents not seeing availability are searching the wrong fair class. Or maybe there's only a problem with F availability.

That's normal for CX. They might reappear in available inventory in the future, but they don't automatically go back immediately.

Perfect!

I booked 2f (to BKK) and 2j return on CX on Friday (around 11am PST). Thankfully the seats weren't taken during the two week wait-period!!

My problem persists. BA, QF and JL show F award seat from JFK to SIN on july 24th, either CX831 or CX889. And show J award seat on CX845, CX841 or CX889.

When I call AA, all they can see is J on CX845, nothing on any of the other three flights that day.

Prior to the CX system switch over you could pretty much rely on the JL web site. Apparently not anymore.

Looks like you are running into some Married Segment issues.

Award Availability for CX 841 changes, depending on the connecting flight and CX 889 is a 1-stop flight, so Availability is different, depending on what part(s) of it are used:

yes but look at CX831/CX715. There should be 2x F award seats. AA claims not to see them. Nor the biz seats on CX841/CX635. That is five possible award seats over two flights they cannot see. They do see the biz seat on CX845/CX691
