Take-off slow for a 757, whoever was flying over rotated and the tail struck the runway. Out over the water for 10 minutes emergency return to LAX.

Now in Admirals club with no plan and no seats to HNL!

Well it was my first return in 12 years so not bad!
Thanks for the info. I was on the flight wondering what that bump was. Not really fun watchin maintenance take pics of the airplane after emergency landing! Happy to be on the ground ok

An update: I was also provided with hotel (O'Hare Hilton) $10 voucher for dinner and $5 for breakfast.
Unfortunately my luggage didn't make it, though it was redirected to the new flight. Will have to file once I arrive to my final destination.

I don't know if you have to wait until you get to O'Hare to ask for the compensation, but because it is not weather related I would say they do need to provide it to you. See if they can't take care of it in London for you first, and if not, talk to the folks at ORD. Let us know.

NYC-LAX Today - Multiple Cancellations?

I assume it is just coincidence, but it is a bad afternoon for getting from NYC-LAX.

AA 21 - JFK-LAX - Cancel
AA 119 - EWR-LAX - Cancel
AA 759 - LGA-LAX (via DFW) - Cancel (LGA-DFW)

As a result, all other JFK-LAX has gone to 0 0 0 0 0 0.

AA canceled my flight 114 - LAX/EWR on this coming Sunday, but said my return trip on Monday evening flight 119 was still scheduled. They said the cancellation was due to the aircraft being taken out of service. I didn't think much of it, until someone today said one week ago, they had their flight 119 canceled the day of travel. Now I see in this thread its happening in between LAX/EWR with greater frequency.

Anyone know anything and care to share? Should I be changing my return to LAX now? Leaving from JFK isn't convenient for my schedule but neither is being stuck back east overnight.

AA222 LAX - BOS cancelled on 1/17 (as all direct LAX-BOS flights seem to be); no reason given. Now will have the pleasure of connecting thru ORD.

if I remember correctly N5ED has been in and out of service for a while. but 6 flights at Chicago were cancelled also due to various aircraft out of service. So it hasn't been a good day for AA aircrafts today.

One would think that with two days to departure, AA could find a spare plane or fix whatever problem is causing the aircraft to go out of service.

That was my feeling as well. Which is why my attention was raised even further when i heard the same flight had been canceled the week before. Well I guess I'll find out in the next 48 hours.

Jan 15 JFK-BRU

Currently 1.5 hours late. I wouldn't normally care but I'm doing a turn at BRU; however, I have been assured by Basil here at the JFK FL that it's the same plane going and coming (despite the lack of any posted delay on the return, which I guess is possible). In any event I have my return BP so I can act like I am connecting at BRU.

I haven't been to the JFK FL in a while but wow the food is good here this evening. Great potato salad, shrimp salad, great desserts. I'm not sad to spend extra time here tonight
