I transferred Starwood points into my AAdvantage account for 50,000 miles, and the 17,500 bonus posted the same day as the transferred miles. You shouldn't have to wait long. It only took the transferred miles about 4 days to post.

Groups of 20k will do the trick. You can do up to 60k at a shot to receive the maximum miles per transfer.

Note the "complete" vs. "initiate" conversions found in your link - I'm really not sure what will happen if I start a conversion now and it doesn't go through to AA until after July 1. I'll call AAdvantage customer service tomorrow (they've gone home) and double/triple/quadruple check.

I am confused whether the higher bonus applies to individual transfers or the total made during the period?

Members can convert multiple times with multiple hotel participants. However, members cannot combine conversion transactions from the same or multiple eligible AAdvantage program hotel participants in order to reach a certain threshold for the bonus miles.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get on this promo.
Made 2MM without knowing it, as the bonuses kicked in 2 weeks ago and I still thought I had a way to go.
The second set of bonuses for transfers made after the 20th are still pending for my wife's acct to get her to 1MM.
