Actually, I am concerned less on planes b/c there are other people around and up and I think somebody would feel pretty nervous about going through my bags for fear of someone seeing him. I check for my valuables when wake up and that way can report the issue to an FA b/f deplaning. I also sleep with my laptop (I mean that non-sexually).

I have, but usually I'll ask someone seated nearby if they wouldn't mind keeping an eye on my things because I need to run to the ladies room/get food/etc. Do I know these people? No. Could they be shifty folks who are going to steal my stuff? I suppose so, but none of them ever have.
Often, I am asked to reciprocate by keeping an eye on their things if they have to run somewhere and I'm happy to oblige.
I always make sure that my wallet and BlackBerry are on me though (just in case).

If I need a potty break, I take my goodies with me (ID, electronics). I'll leave my bag with clothes in it and I'll leave the laptop locked with a cable (figure it should keep the laptop safe for the 3-5 minutes I'm gone).

In all seriousness, Berkshire Hathaway (the corporation where Buffett has a controlling interest) owns NetJets, a fractional ownership company. So he definitely does not fly commercial these days.
