Not only Eagle, of course, but mainline flying from MIA continues to increase.

Any chance of ever seeing CPT or JNB from MIA? AA's 777-223s don't have the legs, but with a fuel stop in Recife, even 763s could be used.

UA and DL fly zero mainline on ORD-SLC. UA is all-CR7s, DL is all-CR9.

It will either by 9F/56Y or 6F/60Y. The former is preferred, but might make the cabin too cramped.

Hopefully we will see JNB one day. It's a big local market. Though maybe we could see it with 787s or 777LRs. I don't think AA would bother operating it absent a non-stop, so it will be a while.

I think AA could do fine operating MIA-LOS-JNB with a 763, but I don't think AA is interested in taking the risk.

If Europe-U.S. travel sees an upswing in 2010, we will likely see MIA-MXP/BCN added in November 2010.

MIA BCN would be sweet. I am currently in BCN. Why would they start MIA-MXP and not MIA-FCO. Alitalia used to fly thet route and switched it to FCO. Maybe the reason would be because they would be the only carrier flying it?

Isn't it too far for a 757 so it would have to be with a 767?

Any news about possible equipment upgrades to Brussels for S10-season?

Obviously AA has the data to support where to fly. Besides the business traffic to Miami and beyond (although Central and S. America traffic is hampered by US' unfriendly visa requirements), Florida is actually a decent leisure and second home destination for Northern Italians -- and Alitalia left them all without a nonstop!

As far as MIA-MXP being out of reach of the 757, I think you're probably right (at least if you want to transport passengers and cargo in it!) although IIRC winds in the lower latitudes of the Atlantic are not as strong as up North, especially in the winter.

Fortunately, at almost 5,000 miles, MXP is too far for a 757. I'd bet that MXP could support some paid F, or at least plenty of paid J, so perhaps a 777 is not out of the question, although a 763 is much more likely.

Alitalia switched to MIA-FCO because they shut down their Milan hub.

However, Alitalia announced plans to re-start MIA-MXP (and EZE-MXP) as point-to-point services next year.

Miami is Milan's second largest trans-Atlantic O&D market - in addition to the obvious VFR traffic (Miami's total Italian community might pale to Chicago or Boston; but Miami has more native born Italians than either), there are strong business ties with the banking, fashion, boat manufacturing and cruise ship industries (as in cruise ship company travel; not people going on cruises).

It's a given to launch when the economy improves, and AA has done a good job establishing themselves in the Milan market in the past year from NYC. Both MXP and BCN launched strong.

And, with BCN, ATI with IB will be a huge boost. That's the missing link to making this route work.

Note that ORD-ABQ is 2x S80 right now, until 11/19/09. I don't know if they plan to change to Eagle every winter. I would suggest that ORD-ABQ or ORD-SLC is TOO FAR for a regional jet with only coach. I did ORD-ABQ in a regional jet on AE (last winter, IIRC) and it was a mighty uncomfortable four hours. I know there are longer eagle flights, but my tush was achin' by the end of that one.

Added all Eagle/mainline switches and frequency increases at O'Hare.

Mainline exits ORD-ATL/IAH; mainline returns to ORD-YYZ.

Do you have more details? Do these changes involve an increase or decrease?
