Those are scheduled maintenances so they know in advanced it won't be a A380 service on specific dates. So not every day during the winter/summer schedule that those flights are scheduled to be operated by A380.

Domestically in Japan, the A380 never made sense. The bullet train/shinkansen is taking a lot of business travellers off the Tokyo to Osaka route. Secondly a 500+ seat 77W is the plane to beat. Although you can put 800+ seats inside an A380 the plane is not certified to handle that many due to aircraft exit limitations. For Hawaii it makes more sense to do a high density J/Y split with as many Y seats they can put in.

Not sure if Guam or Okinawa can handle the A380 but other popular Japanese beach destinations makes sense.
I believe the 380 has been certified by EASA for a max config of 853 seats; 538 lower; 315 upper. The most recent Emirates deliveries @ 615 are the highest real world configurations. Airbus has provided customers with a single class plan for around 840!!

Hard to imagine nearly 1000 people aboard a single aircraft.

It's quite a while yet before the aircraft will be delivered so a lot could change between now and then and route planning. Route planning changes all the time.

Per ATW: Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) has denied reports that parent company ANA Holdings has completed a deal to acquire three Airbus A380s that were repossessed from low-cost carrier Skymark Airlines.

Never believe anything until it has been officially denied. This is kind of the official denial

Official Denial haha

Maybe they get all the A380's instead of 3. Negotiate for 3 and make an offer for take-all.

The story has some issues, namely PHNL does not have any A380 gates and for the last decade has said they will not build one.

Release is here:
http://www.anahd.co.jp/en/pr/201601/20160129-2.html

ANA HD will introduce three new Airbus A380 aircraft onto routes between Tokyo and Honolulu. The A380 allows us to efficiently expand seating capacity at a lower cost per seat while offering a flexible range of cabin classes.

Wow. So ANA is going to expand by 50% over 5 years? In a saturated, economically stagnant market with a shrinking population? And put A380s on a low-yield, saturated leisure route?

I'm nothing more than an armchair CEO, but IMO this business plan is a disaster. ANA is the new JAL (pre-2010 JAL).

But inbound tourism into Japan has continued to rise, which for now has been offsetting any domestic demographic issues in Japan. It's a two way street and ANA is trying to build a reputation with Chinese, American and European customers through unique routes and a high level of customer service.

What are the chances they will have a first class on this? Also do you think they will fly it from Narita? Or HND? I know HND doesn't allow A380s because of the wake disruption but since its ANA you think HND and the government will make the exception?

I don't know, but here are my predictions:
75% chance they don't put F at all.
20% chance of 1 row of F.
Leaving 5% chance of having more than 1 row of F.

I doubt there will even be a big J cabin... heavy focus on W and Y.
