The $1m+ was just a guess. Reality is it would be much much higher but for what it costs to maintain a high profile figure at EP1 for Air NZ I would think maintaining someone's status would be a no brainer, especially when the criteria is unpublished. I'm sure many of us have taken an unplanned flight to maintain our status level, with unpublished criteria EP1 don't really have the opportunity so to be stripped without notice would frustrate me as well. 🤷.♂️

That sounds like truly shoddy corporate behaviour. But it really just lays bare the fact that EP1 status is a personal inducement for corporate decision-makers to steer spending towards NZ even if it's not in the company's interests. I expect that there are converse situations where a CEO requires all flying on NZ, regardless of whether there are better or cheaper alternatives available, merely to retain their EP1 status. These CEOs will always be able to claim that the decision is based on other factors (as this CEO will do if this blows up). But we now know of at least 1 case where EP1 status was enough to sway a CEO's decision-making towards self-interest.

EP1
Kia Ora,
Hey I’m a current Air NZ agent. With the EP1 designation in concern you as a pax have to previously hold NZ Star elite membership. Then after based on how often you fly you may be contacted by NZ to reward you with the EP1 designation.
lounge benefits include access to any Star Alliance First class lounge aside from access to any NZ Lounge. You get a dedicated number to call 24/7 for bookings/ changes / personal concierge. Escorts from check in to Lounge then to gate. Choose when to board first one on or Last. In love with a specific Business Premier seat you will get it every time. Always first cabin unless requested otherwise. Extended check in time. We will hold the flight with on reasonable timeframe. So much more. This is what I’ve seen not what exact guide to earn or benefits. That secret is closely kept. Travel well!

Has Air NZ released any more info about the new "exclusive
enefits" of the invitation-only Elite Priority One status? Also, has anyone received an invitation yet?
I can't seem to find any info about it apart from the initial announcement back in November last year. This is surprising considering the announced changes to the Airpoints Programme come into affect in 12 days.
Does anyone have info about the 777-200 refit status either? NZ seems to be very quite on realising info at the moment.
Thanks

if ep1 requests it it shall happen unless flight is full
Old thread but new reference point...
ZQN-AKL and there was an EP1 on board. They were seated and during boarding the FSM addressed them by name and gave out a bottle of water. Heard the FSM give the other FA a brief heads up who the EP1 was and where they were.
The EP1 didn't have a middle seat blocked out despite travelling by themselves and other rows in the FF seating section having middle seats free...you'd think they'd at least proactively block for them.

Anybody know if these benefits have changed? Had an EP1 on my RAR-AKL flight. Nobody met them at the gate on arrival in AKL, no escort from INTL to DOM, and the DOM lounge staff didn’t recognise him until about 20 minutes later when the manager embarrassingly and profusely apologised to him for not having the EP1 lounge open for him. I should say that he seemed the best the kind of bloke who didn’t care about all that fuss and turned red when they kept loudly apologising.

Blacklist airnz
Interestingly the CEO of my company (a household name in NZ) was recently downgraded from EP1 to Elite and was so pissed off he effectively black listed Air NZ for the entire company (circa 600) people. Now everyone is scrambling to find alternative airlines. His travel may have decreased but the company as a whole must spend $1m+ easily on airfares. Ridiculous decision by Air NZ!
As an aside I peeked into the IO lounge last week ex ALK International. Aside from the privacy it was pretty underwhelming.

IS the CEO still working for your company ?

While chatting with Koru lounge agents on the 7th whilst they were reissuing BP's for me during the fog, I glanced at their flight list.
The right hand column for notes had EPI notes for a couple of pax.
Googled both out of curiosity, one runs a large ag/food company the other head honcho for a sports outfit.
The lounge had a table area showing reserved, presumably for them

Wellington Regional Lounge VIP area?
Not sure how common this is but they opened up an additional area in the Wellington regional lounge due to crowding. It is through the door beyond the buffet area. Possibly an area otherwise reserved for VIP.
Nothing special though! Just a few chairs, it was nice and quiet. Thought you folks would be interested anyway, I know how much everyone likes to see behind closed doors
