Anyone successful (or not?) on the Houston route?
Yes I was successful on a Thanksgiving day flight Akl-Iah last year. I had some APD to burn so bid quite a lot 😊 I think it was between $600-$800? So worth it though, slept from straight after dinner till breakfast lights came up.

LAX-LHR
9/14
Requested upgrade from PE to Biz.
800 Airpoints
Silver status
Denied but will try again 9 hrs before flight. Won't happen tho - flight is full.

Couple of things.
I bid with my airpoints as I forgot I had them AND they were going to expire soon so don't know if maybe that was a factor.
Also, I tried booking ONE business ticket on that flight and it's not available.
And finally, when I originally booked the ticket the seats were the new Space Seat and I was really looking forward to trying that out. Now they have changed the plane to the old model.
Never flown in Sept so quite surprised at how busy it is.

It doesn't really matter what month you fly between LAX and LHR. Empty PE or BP seats are pretty rare.

I'm wondering if NZ is trying to consolidate flights with fuel crisis if it will result in op up's if they're aiming to carry more pax on fewer flights.

Also wondering if they declined your one up because they knew they'd be giving out op-ups. Either way - incredibly cool result!

It's NZ school holidays. The odds of getting any upgrade clear during NZ school holidays are very minimal.

$125 bid for Y -> PE for my teenage son and myself (NZ125 AKL-MEL) next week, cleared 4 days out, and school holidays so quite pleased with that outcome.

Bid was noted as 'weak' (or maybe it was very weak?) when submitted.

Interestingly my wife lodged an RU for the same flight and as of last night she was only cleared to PE also. Any time I have used an RU short haul it has gone direct from economy to business so I would have expected hers to have done the same and gone straight to J (which appears wide open on this flight)?. I guess it will happen for her....

Hi - first time posting and have never used OneUp before so excuse me if I don't get the lingo quite right. Am booked to fly economy AKL-SFO at the end of this month:

NZ8
AKL-SFO
28 Oct
PE currently appears to be 72% full

NZ7
SFO-ALK
3 Nov
PE currently appears to be 78% full

Keen for some guidance on what would be sensible bids. Am keen not to miss out, but also don't want to overbid.

Welcome to Flyertalk.

If you're looking at seat maps, it is likely that there will be some people who haven't yet a selected a seat. Similarly if trying the trick of seeing how many seats you can buy via a dummy booking. So the percentages may be higher.

One ups are processed after the upgrades you get via status, so with the current loadings it is likely to be fairly full, so a higher bid is likely to be needed to have any chance of success.
