I had that happen once where map said 2-4-2 so I didn't put in for the upgrade but got on and it was the space seats so I was kicking myself a bit! Short haul though so no biggie.....sort of.

To work out what you want to bid, consider at least the following:
- How much the potential upgrade is worth you spending.
- How full business is - try doing a dummy booking for 10 seats, if it goes through then more chance of upgrades happening and so can bid lower, compared to only a few seats free which are likely to go to higher priority upgrades or need you to bid higher.
And do look through this topic to see what people have been successful / unsuccessful with previously.

I've been following this thread for a while (years?), and I haven't seen anyone mention the AKL-HOU/IAH route. We are trying that route in a couple of weeks and bid more than we normally do for the LAX flight, but still not sure if we will even be in the realm of possibility.
Anyone successful (or not?) on the Houston route?

My first time using one up. A short flight from SYD-AKL this week, bud $AU 110 for Y-PE and was accepted, very fast!. Guessing I overbid?
