@All, Hope to see you there
I'm thinking about this trip... But March looks better because Saudia will start using dreamliners between Jeddah and Paris.

6 segments for 185 euros. Not as good as the deals to turkey but if you need exactly 6 or want to go to Italy this can be interesting. It might even be possible to combine this with a ticket in the other direction to give you say 2 weekends of flying and 12 segments

(just use matrix and type kl kl kl in the advanced routing code if you search from dus, ham, bre to vce/trn/fco or other italian airports.

I really don't like KL flights operated by Alitalia ... You won't have advance seat reservation nor online-checkin when the first segment on the inbound is on such a codeshare.

in early November AF/KLM removed YQ/YR from all of their european fares. YR/YQ is now calculated into the base fare. this finally makes multi-segment-flights cheaper.

You will have advance seat reservation via the AZ website, even though the first 9 rows are normally not available during the process. Check-in opens 2 days before the flight and seats in the first row next to the emergency exits are available free-of-charge for Elite+s (in the last 10 months of flying mostly AZ in Europe, I've always got an 11F, which is much better than Economy Comfort on KL).

No - you can't open your itinerary on the Alitalia website - neither with the PNR nor the ticket number, when the ticket is issued by KLM and the AZ flight is under a KL flight number. Happened to me every time during the last year. And neither KLM nor Alitalia can help with advance seat reservation. Even online checkin is not possible when online checkin opens. the website keeps telling me "not available".

When the ticket is issued by Alitalia and the flights are operated under AZ flight number that's a completely different story. Then everything is fine.

Okay. On a number of occasions the company booked me on AZ code-shared flights (mostly BHX-AMS-FCO-VRN with only 1 sector operated by KL) and I'm fairly sure I was always able to choose seats in advance (the only issue I once had was with on-line check-in and I also remember reporting it on the AZ section through the forum). I will report back next time I'll be taking a similar trip.

I didn't know this, which is probably very good news. Might push me back to a segment run in the future. But I hope that the interesting longhaul business class offers with other scaryteam airlines will continue to appear. Maybe something from Xiamen Air?
