Corona changes.

Today, flight MRS-CDG:

AF called the PAX from the back to the front to access on board according the COVID measure (no Skypriority).

Service on board: coffee - tea - water (no sparkling water) - orange juice - tomatoes juice - apple juice (no cakes). I was informed that they started the service on board today (short flight).

Flight CDG - NTE : boarding started by zone 1/2 - Skypriority. The captain made a speech concerning the COVID rules (mask, distance...). He explained that the boarding has been done from the back to the front to respect the COVID measures. He was not aware about the change.

Service on board: same as MRS - CDG.

Note: the people who has done the boarding in MRS & CDG, gave his first name at the beginning. Looks new also.

Very interested and thank you for posting! Did they come around with amenity kits still? Not sure I understand doing away with the pre-departure drink, but I can certainly live with it, especially if hot 2nd meal is back.

Breakfast was still the crappy bag... they just did not change the menu.

food out of Atlanta was bad; but the flight attendant mentioned they had issues only out of USA and meals ex Paris were much better.

all else was fine. Now in Paris.

No crowd at the moment, only a small line of 4-5 people eventually.
I believe this measure is here to stay for a while. Self-service buffets are a big potential source of germs propagation. You can expect the same measure in many lounges worldwide, when not already done (e.g. LH lounges which have currently no food at all apart packs of bretzels).

Sure, as far as health is concerned, it's a wise change.
That said, I had been wondering what they had in mind when started phasing out self-service in AMS Crown Lounges.
Is it to provide a superior customer experience? Your mileage may vary, but I find my patience quite diminished after a long haul flight, and having to wait & queue & ask for a glass of wine, then do it all over again for 3 meatballs (god forbid 4 end up in your plate or the extra one will be mercilessly removed, this is KLM after all) is not a pleasant experience when you've been up and traveling for 24+ hours.
Is it for cost-cutting reasons? I highly doubt food waste is a major cost while operating lounges, and the staff wages are probably higher than the few cents they save on Chicken Teryiaki for each plate. When cost-cutting, skipping food offering altogether makes way more sense (à la LH).

Drink service was provided today, soft only (juice, coffee, water), no food. Great to see service coming back!
For three out of four recent flights, they accepted non-chirurgical masks (the fourth one, they provided some for people with cloth masks).
Passport control at both departure and arrival, both ways (I stayed within Schengen).
Boarding order today: SkyPriority followed by boarding from the back, zones 1+2, 5, 4, 3 in this order.

Domestic flight in business : served soft drinks + individual cakes .
no champagne , for sure for cost cutting reasons as they service soft drinks out from regular bottles

I have a flight to LAS through ORD. I’m in 1st all 4 segments, 2 of which are only an hour. But on the ORD-LAS, do they provide soda? I’m not expecting a fancy meal, but soda and something light would be nice. It sounds as if service is just willy-nilly and the luck of the draw.

It depends which which airline you fly. Probably not AF (although you're posting in the AF forum). Air France does not fly between Chicago and Las Vegas. And whilst there are a few exceptional Air France flights with Premiere between CDG and ORD I doubt you're on that flight. It's not open for sale and by the time you get to ORD on that flight you won't have a connection to LAS anymore. Maybe want to ask in another forum?

I know I'm possibly asking in the wrong place, but any info on economy? I have a Mex - CDG coming up so would like to know what I can expect. Is alcohol back yet? It seems to be on pretty much every other airline. I'm sometimes a nervous flyer so the wine is appreciated...

this is what Business Class Service on AF in Europe currently looks like: 1st July TXL-CDG:

I did not look what was served in the back, but probably the cashew nuts and cranberries were the differentiator for Business Class.

Hi all,

Just a quick report of my CDG-MRS AF7664 flight of today:
  • Check-In at the 2F SkyPriority Zone. We had one suitcase. No escort/other service was proposed by the Agent. Agent was not really friendly...
  • Access 1 on the left of the SkyPriority Zone was open. Security cleared in 5 min.
  • Flight was expected to leave from F52. We left from F49
  • Lounge 2F2 was crowded. We were welcomed by a nice friendly agent who escorted us to the ULTI Zone, close to the exit on the opposite side of the Lounge.
  • Food was served by an Agent. Alcohol were there plus the usual soft drinks.
  • Boarding was made by Zones as before (SkyPriority Zones 1 & 2, Zone 3, etc...). Asked for pre-boarding, the agent didn't have any clue this existed. Anyway boarded first.
  • Nice welcome from the Chef de Cabine. Flight was packed but we kept our middle seat empty.
  • Service was made (Orange, Apple and Tomate juices, water, coffee and tea). No snacks for Economy. We had, however, the cashews/cramberry box plus the Galette Breton from the Chef de Cabine (thanking us for being loyal).
  • Luggage was delivered almost amongst the first ones.
Globally, it was a very nice flight! Happy to see AF going back to normal (more or less but going back).

Cheers,

Alex
