Since this format seems to work well on other forums, for each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed (AQM):
Segments Needed (AQS):
Dollars Needed (AQD):
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (CHOOSE ONE, AND STATE THE VALUE):
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay:

Route(s) You've Already Searched:

  • For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A NEW THREAD.
  • For Required Spend or Maximum Budget: DO NOT SAY "ANYTHING" OR "CHEAPEST" OR SIMILAR BECAUSE THAT IS NOT VERY HELPFUL - STATE THE DAMN VALUE PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP
  • If you need both AQD AND AQM or AQS, then please indicate both in their respective line item. Don't hide your second AQD/M/S requirement in some other line.
  • If you are based in YYZ or YVR, there can be many good fares to China (PEK or PVG) on Star Alliance partners. If you have a Chinese visa, include that in your request and these options will be provided.

A common tactic for DEN-based UA flyers who need PQM/PQS is to start in COS. 2 guaranteed extra segments for each roundtrip. If you fly somewhere exclusively served by EWR/IAD, (e.g. ITH, ABE, PQI, BQN) you're guaranteed a minimum of 6 segments per trip.

Hoping to solicit advice for a AQS run (yes, a segment run...)

Hey FT'ers,

I may as well put this here - but hoping to solicit advice for a AQS run (yes, a segment run...). Currently I'm at 27 AQS (77%) vs 45% MQM and aiming to hit the E35k tier pre- 10/31, otherwise I'll certainly hit E35k by 12/31 - but the new status won't kick in until 03/2020.

I've gotta get from YYZ -> YVR or SEA then back to YYZ or NYC (LGA/EWR/JFK). Any suggestions on route which might hit my 8 segments, and may as well earn a couple wings in the meantime? OJ trips are also OK - I can close the jaw using DL on any part of this trip as i'm 1 MQS short of Gold there.

Departure Airport: YYZ
Miles Needed (AQM): N/A
Segments Needed (AQS): 8
Dollars Needed (AQD): 500
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value): max budget of $800
Available Travel Dates: Any.
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay:
AC for the segments, since i'm short a tad for AQD.
Route(s) You've Already Searched: YYZ - YVR (using YEG as layover) but couldn't find ones that let me ... jump 3+ changes.

Edit: original post used MQS/MQM vs. the AC terminology of AQS/AQD. Ooops! Rookie first time posting in FT! Moved into this thread!
Thanks in advance!

The status will kick in shortly after you obtain it.

The only difference post Oct 31 is that you won't get the 2019 select privileges.

Appreciate the response.

Available Travel Dates: now until christmas, would prefer a 2 day turn around if possible. weekend would be OK too.
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay: *A

Route(s) You've Already Searched: YOW - SYD, or YOW AKL , both would be overkill in AQM

I am currently altitude 50k if that makes any difference.

But 15K AQM is easy. As always it depends how much you want to spend and what cabin you want.

For example, you could do a RT to HKG as a turnaround.

YOW-HNL in J would do it.

However, I have a Southwest Sun pass that can get me to YVR, YEG, or YYC for $560 USD round-trip, per person, so I'm happy to position that way if it makes more sense.

Miles Needed (AQM): 13,000
Segments Needed (AQS): 0
Dollars Needed (AQD): 0
Maximum Budget: I'd really like to keep this under $2000 USD per person, and I've found some for about $1500. Less is best.
Available Travel Dates: US Thanksgiving - Nov 23/24 thorough Nov 30/Dec 1. Somewhat flexible on both ends
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay: AC marketed and operated due to eUpgrades - ticket stock irrelevant
Route(s) You've Already Searched: A bunch: ICN, HKG, TPE, TYO, LHR, FCO, etc. - just looking to see if anyone is aware of anything amazing

Cabin (why is this not an option in the template???): J or PY. If J, I don't care about metal, as long as it's *A.
Restrictions: No China transit

Western Canada to GRU through YYZ would yield AQM (YYZ GRU is 5092 one way).

I don't see that anywhere close to $2k/person in PY. What dates are you looking at, and from which city?

Just checked outbound SFO GRU Nov 23 is 1179 CAD in PY

Didn't look at retiens yet.

edit: 16h layover yikes.

Taipei in PE would get it done. 20% off base but must be booked by 9/27-it's cheaper than HKG or other similar destinations

@piperdown

Examples (AQM and costs based on YYZ departure point)

20,070 AQM
YYZ-YVR-TPE in PE
$1,800 or less, depending on dates and if using the current AC sale.
1 or 2 night stay possible but AC is reducing TPE to 5 days per week so you need to see what works for you.

19,493 AQM
YYZ-HKG in PE
$2,500 or less...
1 night stay possible

NRT and ICN have lower AQM and are in the $2,300 range from YYZ.

For $4,000, you can easily fly J, or you can possibly do 2 trips in PE.

And based on recent searches, PE to BNE and MEL for example, are over $4,200

I cannot reproduce that. I see N0 on that flight, and the flexible date view on AC.com doesn't show anything under 3k CAD r/t.
