From post #49 in this thread, here's one potential way to (re)inflate an AC seat:
A better method is for a crew member to use the reset switch under the seat, on the aisle side.
Compensation offers (green/white sheet completed)
40K AE- Apr 18 (50% back of the J class one way redemption)
2018 Jun - $500 coupon
2018 Sep $1,000 eCoupon or 40K AP (P fare TPAC)
2018 Sep $500 eCoupon (P fare TPAC) (no change on protest- update - 6 months later the $150 was increased to $500 - admitted they had made an error)
Compensation offers (no green/white sheet completed)
100K - May 5 (C$150 eCoupon; was moved to a functioning seat after meal service)
2017 Sept - 8,000 AE miles - reported via complaint web page after realizing it was a faulty seat, not standard discomfort; Asked for return of eUps but they declined.
2017 Nov & 2018 Feb - $500 coupons both times (second time on protest that $500 had been offered the previous time)
2018 Sep. $250 coupon (on a paid J TATL).
2018 Nov - $500 eCoupon (J TATL)
Standard eCoupon compensation offers (no haggling; following a recurring pattern)
~10+ hours: $1000
Long TPAC (TPE-YVR)
~6 to ~10 hours: $500
Short TPAC (NRT-YVR)
TATL
South America: YYZ-GRU
less than ~6 hours: 300
TCON
Have a Service Director (SD) That Is Giving You the Case of the Shrugs? Like the real life version of this ASCII emoji -> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ?
No success with the SD and/or crew rectifying your deflated seat and you can't be/aren't accommodated to another J seat? If you asked for a compensation form and the SD says they have no idea what you are talking about, you can use the below picture of the stub portion to help freshen their memory (better than nothing)...
Please note that for the longest time, the "Green Compensation Form" version was used, and there have been recent reports of the "White Compensation Form" replacing the Green version. Reports here have indicated that the two forms are virtually identical except for the colour.
There is now an even newer White Form which explicitly lists "deflated seat" and "deflated seat and fixed", among many other items.

From post #49 in this thread, here's one potential way to (re)inflate an AC seat:
- Go the home screen "Your Seat". (find this on the seat side panel; not the main video screen)
- Hold the top left hand corner "Air Canada" (with AC logo) for 3 seconds. Updated (Apr 9 18): may need to hold for as long as 45 seconds for key pad to appear
- Dial pad shows up - hit 3-2-1.
- Press "Reset Lumbar Support"

And yes, I am aware that if someone reports that 4A on fin 805 has "issues", it won't necessarily help the next person that sits in it, unless AC fixes it.

I now had my first deflategate on YYZ-FRA on a 787-9 in seat 8A. C was fully booked and I had to stick with the seat. Reset did not help and the purser was completely clueless or more likely pretended to be clueless…. He acknowledged that "something was wrong with the seat" but was unwilling to give me a confirmation form. I ended up sleeping on a spare blanket.

I've never been denied a comp form when I ask, unless there was an open seat that I was offered. If I deny the open seat, then I get no comp form, which makes sense (unless the open seat also has the same problem).

My son experienced deflategate on a recent YVR-TPE. Maybe 55 pounds is more than the seat is rated/load tested for?
Made me so proud when he promptly noticed the issue and came back to PY to ask me what to do/say.
FA attempted a reset. But brushed him off when asked if he should move, or for a form or proof that it was logged....He likely doubted that the 9yr old was actually going to write in.

AC 91, Dec 1, 6k. Seat 100% dead at boarding. Flight full. Seat was 'apparently' not flagged as non operational as the flight came in GRU earlier in the day. Nice, sure. Got them to swap with a First officer deadheading. Dead seat mean dead seat, including deflation. Secret reset switch now located, I now know how to turn off seat power if required to quiet down annoying neighbours.

No, the SD did not immediately refuse to give me the form. He first claimed he had no idea was I was talking about. When I explained and insisted, he said that this form does not exist anymore and he will not give me anything. I honestly could not really be bothered as I was too tired and wanted to get at least some sleep.

Sorry for the late reply. I was traveling all day yesterday…

I will add a comment to anyone reading your post who does encounter this on a flight: Take photos, document everything, get the name of the cabin crew and exactly what they claim and will or won't do.
I think we've all flown with those who may not know how to reset the seats or the IFE (IFE hiccups seem to be a regular problem on some fins I've flown, why I don't know).
As mentioned, there is a form and if the problem persists and cannot be fixed, get that form and if the crew refuses or claims ignorance, get their name. There is a reason the forms exist. If others here have knowledge that AC is no longer providing the forms, or if they are no longer green or blue depending on the problem, then it would be great to advise the FT collective. Thanks in advance.

Soooooo- we need to bring our own.... I will make and sell a FlyerTalk branded cushion (after paying an appropriate royalty of course). I will roll them and seal them airtight so they will be small and easy to fit in your luggage. But will also be super comfy when put on top of a deflated J seat....Only $500 each...Who wants one ?

Great Idea, but AC probably wont do that. Doing so would only hilite the fact they are having issues with the seats...
