LOL -- not laughing at your misfortune but it's good to know that I am not the only person who has done this! Fortunately, I was an SE at the time, so they were pretty good at fixing it for me without a penalty! -- catgirl
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that was a joke - Adam
Damn! And I thought I had someone to commiserate with. I typed in YYZ instead of YYC and didn't notice till a couple of days before the flight ... it ended well -- catgirl

Saturday morning hiking

I am planning to lead a hike before the 'official' 'do'. So far 3 of us are going, but I'm happy to show off our beautiful trails to as many as possible! We will go at the pace of the slowest person (possibly me!).

We will be hiking from Alyard farm, meeting there at 11am. If you need a ride, PM painintheuk. It will be a slow, relaxed pace, with snacks along the way!

We'll be done and back in plenty of time to check in and relax before the Do.

Please add your name below:
PainintheUK
catgirl (well ... maybe)
eigenvector

AND A BIG BIG THANKS TO LIGHTS_A_BLUR AND THE OTHERS WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN!!!

I'm not running the show, but I think that there will be lots of room - there is always overflow in the main bar!

See you then

Sorry, but I think that this needs some explanation. I (and the crews, apparently!) need to know this now that YYJ-YYZ-YYJ has been rouged.

FWIW, availability at the Fairmont Empress seems to have opened up.

I'm seeing advance purchase rates in the $350CAD++/night range and fully flexible rates in the $439CAD++/range (incl. free breakfast for two daily and a $100USD hotel credit per stay)

In case I don't make it, enjoy the DO!

Which reminds me that Fairmont still hasn't bumped me up to Platinum, so I do not have a free night certificate.

FYI, DoubleTree rates have gone up but Marriott seem the same as when I looked back in January.

Yes, I know, free is better.

Marriott (and now Delta by Marriott) are much closer to town and the venue. 'Free' (it is not free - we earned those points/certs/nights) is better, but there are definitely some affordable places in walking distance to town. Even Spinakers has a few spots, I think, and there is great beer as well!

Of course I prefer walking everywhere and don't even have an Uber account, so I may not be the best judge!

??? Doubletree is right beside the Marriot DT, probably a little closer to the venue than the Marriot.

My bad - I was thinking of the Westin on Bear Mountain. Don't know why I thought it was a Doubletree.

Count my son and myself in if there is still space.

BTW - Marriott used to be an easy win on Priceline Bidding. Haven't tried for a few years so may have changed.

I'm looking at 563/8071 on Saturday.

Is there anything going on Friday night or Saturday before the do in YVR/YYJ that would be worth reconsidering?

Oh, Could still make it to Whistler for one last ski on slush before they close off. Heard its pretty fun. Take the shuttle back to downtown and helicopter/harbor to Victoria just in time for dinner. Ticket seems cheapo also, 99 bucks all in.
