LOL -- not laughing at your misfortune but it's good to know that I am not the only person who has done this! Fortunately, I was an SE at the time, so they were pretty good at fixing it for me without a penalty! -- catgirl
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that was a joke - Adam
Damn! And I thought I had someone to commiserate with. I typed in YYZ instead of YYC and didn't notice till a couple of days before the flight ... it ended well -- catgirl

Saturday morning hiking

I am planning to lead a hike before the 'official' 'do'. So far 3 of us are going, but I'm happy to show off our beautiful trails to as many as possible! We will go at the pace of the slowest person (possibly me!).

We will be hiking from Alyard farm, meeting there at 11am. If you need a ride, PM painintheuk. It will be a slow, relaxed pace, with snacks along the way!

We'll be done and back in plenty of time to check in and relax before the Do.

Please add your name below:
PainintheUK
catgirl (well ... maybe)
eigenvector

AND A BIG BIG THANKS TO LIGHTS_A_BLUR AND THE OTHERS WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN!!!

Yo,

I booked that late WS Nonstop flight to YYC as I do want to explore a bit and it was $120 cheaper than the other options .

I'm 100% down to fly in Friday and do harbour air with you so let me know when/if you can confirm/book and I'll book the AC leg into YVR! If not, I can just do YYC-YYJ nonstop on Saturday so whatever works for you

Not that is should matter too much, but Harbour Air is a VFR only operation and will stop flying if it's too foggy, which can certainly happen in the Inner Harbour. Helijet is quite a bit more resilient.

Me, I enjoy the approach into YWH a lot and Harbour Air is right downtown (on both ends) as opposed to Helijet who stuffs you into a cab when you land in Victoria. But both flights are decent and more fun than YYJ IMHO.

I will be in Vancouver with a free day on May 7, and would be happy to see people IRL.

Although I am sorely tempted (and might yet be foolish enough to do it), it really does seem a bit silly to catch the 9pm ferry from Nanaimo on Friday only to take a plane back over the next morning. Leaning more toward driving the whole way down Friday night and hitting up the Argyle Attic or some other such nook.

I really wish I could do it. I have to be in Toronto by May 1st for my job until Aug 26th From there its one week of chillz in either SFO or Caribbean before my last year of slaving away in the soul-less BCOM education.
I am not at the FT Level where I fly transcon for a weekend DO yet. Maybe I will have the means to do so in a few years from now? Hopefully. :P

Its really tempting though UGH!

SFO? Blergh. Summer in SF = heightened urine smells. Vancouver Island is the place to be!

Well truthfully Its more about meeting up with some of my contacts at Twitter, Apple and Google than anything else. Maybe improve my chances if I get to meet face to face with some of the PMs and recruiters there.

Vancouver Island is just stunningly beautiful. I will prob be spending some time there once I graduate next year.

Hope you guys have fun!

Yeah, networking is always good, especially if you are not normally based in The Valley.

Added.

This will be my second, after the St. John's do a couple of summers back, looking forward to it.

Just booked my flights - on the Friday morning from YYT had a choice of connection in YYZ to AC183 to Vancouver or AC1681 direct to Victoria. Whilst others are on 183, I'm going to save the dollars in getting to YYJ direct and take the Rouge flight and sample the delights of Vancouver island for a couple of days!
