Cool

Thoughts on this itinerary? It's for 2 in J. Not sure if it's legal or not, have to call Aeroplan to confirm.

TK - YYZ - IST (22-hour 'layover' so she can quickly sample the city)
TK IST - CDG (2 days. CDG is 'stopover')
OS CDG - VIE - PRG (2 days. PRG is the destination)
LX PRG - ZRH - VCE (1.5 days. Leave the morning of the third day)
SN VCE - BRU - YYZ

So she gets to sample IST as a layover, then we get 2 days each in Paris and Prague and 1.5 days in Venice. Also get to try Turkish (my fav), Austrian, Swiss and Brussels in J. None of the airlines have fuel surcharge on reward redemption. Seems like it should be a legal itinerary. Thoughts?

Austrian has surcharges on long haul. Going through Istanbul might go over mpm with all the looping around

His TATL are on TK and SN. Should be no YQ. As for MPM, not sure but it does sound like it might be over. Worth a shot.

Way over MPM for sure, you better make IST your Destination (>24 hrs stop at FURTHEST POINT from ORIGIN) and choose 2 stopovers from PRG/CDG/VCE

It doesn't even look close once you map it out (just the intra-Europe)
http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=ist-cdg...rg-zrh-vce-bru

Start with Multi-city online and see what you get first
and probably tweak city orders (to try form a natural circle, from furthest city to closest one)
Maybe something like this (no IST)

Also worth mentioning that all of the OS and LX legs and the short-haul SN leg are all likely to be "Europe J" aka economy with a blocked middle seat - nothing like the real thing.

22h in IST is not a lot of time and considering the costs of a visa... i would either recommend more time or scrap the idea... just my 2 cents

The visa costs are indeed a huge nuisance, but otherwise I don't completely agree. A day-tour of IST is sufficient to get a good overview of the city (e.g. visit 4-5 major attractions, walk around the old city and maybe enjoy an authentic meal somewhere at night).

80$Cad + hotel for ~10hr I suppose there are worst uses of money/time...

We spent 5 days in IST and feel like we only scratched the surface. Considering getting around is not the easiest crowded pedways, chaotic and not interconnected public transit system, taxis that rip tourists off and end up snarled in traffic and end up kick you out anyways... IMHO... meh!

Looking to book my first Europe redemption in J for September. Not really a mini-RTW but thought I post here anyways. Looking for help. I've found the first few legs of the trip

AC YYC-YYZ (layover)
TK YYZ-IST (Destination)
TK IST-CDG ( Stop)
Will probably take the train to London from there for a couple of days then back to Paris. From Paris, we are not sure where to make one more stop. We were thinking either Madrid or Barcelona but not sure if that makes sense. Hoping people can chime in on their preferences or route ideas.

Also, the taxes seem to be adding up fast, not sure if that is normal.

Paris also has high business class charges, although not to the point of London.

I'd consider doing Istanbul to Barcelona, Barcelona to Brussels, Brussels to Toronto direct.

take the train from Brussels to London, London to Paris, Paris to Brussels. It'll save you some connections trying to get from CDG to Barcelona and you'd probably aim for the Brussels flight back to Toronto to save on surcharges anyways

Give this a read too
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...demptions.html

Also, France just has high tax/fees, can't avoid it

Play with Multi-city online to see what routing are possible
YYC-YYZ-IST, stop 1/destination
IST-MAD/BCN, stop 2
MAD/BCN-*-CDG, stop 3
CDG-*-YYC
* = possible *A hubs like FRA/BRU/ZRH

Thank you crimsona, Marlin240, jerryhung, flyer05, hearna and Jasper2009. I really enjoy flying TK and wanted to visit the ISG lounge again, but those aren't really valid reasons to make things complicated :-).

I'll try to play with routing again. Aeroplan's multicity tool only lets me see three legs.

Thanks Crmisona and Jerry. Those options look intriguing. I will look into it and report back.

Cheers

I played around with some dates and routes with the Award Flights tool and flight connections. Came up with the following. Will take the train from Brussels to London to Paris and then back to BRU as Crimsona suggested. Thoughts?

YYC-YYZ-IST(destination) on TK
IST-BCN (Stopover) on TK
BCN-ZRH (Layover) on LX
ZRH-BRU (Stopover) on LX
BRU-YYZ (return) on SN
YYZ-YYC

may be doable
http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=YYC-YYZ...RH-BRU-YYZ-YYC

but are you really trying to do 5~6 cities in 1 trip?
IST, BCN, ZRH (layover), Brussels, London, Paris

Did a dummy booking for fun, YYC-IST-BRU-YYC, 75K + only $174, not bad
There's even SFO-IST on TK, and LHR is one of the option too (=you could stopover in LHR if you really want to)
