It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.
Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

So I qualified as Lifetime Gold and it was reflected on my account on 18 May.
I just had a call from Fedex who have a delivery for me from Starwood and want to know why I'm not home to receive it. During the day. On a Friday.
Anyway, I moved to China two months ago so my colleague had to take the call and evidently Fedex cannot deliver to the secure electronic delivery boxes that all delivery companies use here. You know, because people work. We've asked them to redirect the delivery to my work address which they say will create an additional charge for the sender. I've checked the Tracking and the package left Charlotte on 18 May.
I'm bursting with excitement to see what unexpected gift I will receive in the event that they manage to deliver it to my work place. Anyone know what Golds get when we qualify?

It's arrived. Mystery solved.
There was a handwritten card congratulating me on reaching lifetime Gold. And a heavy book called "Where Chefs Eat". Surprisingly, this is not a directory of SPG restaurants but a global guide to some celebrity chefs' favourite restaurants. You can find it on Amazon for $20.
Don't know that I would have been happy to take a day off work to get it delivered by Fedex but I do appreciate the gesture from SPG head office so I won't be sour about it.

I got nothing for Gold and became LT Platinum in mid-April. No acknowledgment here other than form email from SPG. My Ambassador congratulated me a few weeks ago after I told her I was now LT Platinum.

To be honest, I was expecting something with SPG branding having (a) read that people generally don't get anything for achieving LTG and (b) assumed that the impending merger with Marriott Rewards (I know, I know - nothing is announced) would leave them with a pile of SPG branded premium gifts to get rid of.
No idea why I have been singled out for special treatment. The card acknowledged my joining date on 3 Nov 2012 (W Hong Kong). I achieved Gold in 2013 with one stay at the W Bali thanks to the World MasterCard promo. Then discovered Le Meridien BKK and achieved Platinum on 28 December 2014, Platinum 75 in 2015 and 2016, and have one night to go (hello Ovolo Southside Hong Kong this coming weekend) for Platinum in 2017 leaving me six more years for LTP (but who knows, right.) Nothing exceptional about my qualification. I'll have to check out the book for somewhere to eat in HK.

I became a LTG member earlier this year. Stayed one night at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay. Wasn't verbally acknowledged, but the room key card had a golden sticker on it, I assume it's to indicate that I am a LTG member...

At my first stay after reaching LTP, I walked into my fancy room and there on the bed was a throw pillow embroidered with the first initial of my last name, which starts with a "G".
I was impressed they would attend to that level of detail until I remembered I was at the U.S. Grant in San Diego.

How long before status changes to LT Platinum ?
I have 700+ nights but was a year short of the 10 years. Just crossed 50 nights this last weekend and the dashboard still shows LT Gold (though it acknowledges that I made Platinum for another year). Does anyone have experience on how long it takes for the LT change to take effect ?
