It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Locally, I think I can get LT Plat for $3750 USD. Given I am 46 yrs old, that would be kind of nice to have for the next 50 years or so.

You can get LT Plat for 3750$ total or LT Plat for $3750/year for x # of years?

I'm guessing someone on that side can answer that, but it would depend on how recent the 15 nights/year + 1 night/$3000 spend Visa card deal started, as well as when rollover nights started adding on

I'd guess the average number is in the ~500-600 night range so in theory not too dissimilar from SPG Plat BIB (butt in bed) requirements.

Im scared, my whole goal in life was to hit lifetime Plat. Kinda sorta
There is a good chance several components will be changed so worrying about just the number on nights needed to get LTP is useless. I'm sure they see LT status to be nothing more than going for the brass ring to get members to aspire to obtain. No matter how much they move it out of reach, there will always be those compelled to go for it! Just like their Platinum Premier level, it's "rumored" to be based upon top 3% of it's members. But nowhere do they specify what that really means. There is no fixed line to step across and it only takes one more night/dollar/known MR executive by someone else to push you back behind the line.

I suggest stop worrying about what is about to happen and do what you want until the new rules are announced.

...and unlike UA GS or AA CK, where there are actual benefits for the top of the top tier, from what I read about PPlat in the MR forum it doesn't really amount to much if anything

Plus you also have to have earned 2,000,000 MR points. People focus on the ability to easily earn a lot of Lifetime Nights credit with MR but the points requirement is still a hurdle, especially since transferring SPG points to your MR account does not increase your lifetime MR points tally.

Does that $3750 also get you the 2M MR points you need?

That's not necessarily true. They may count all SPG LT points, including those transferred, towards Marriott LT points. That would be the proper thing to do.

Would be an easy thing to do, just take the points via the SPG Master Statement they have on every loyalty member and just multiply by 3 and combine w/existing MR points

I was a little surprised they didn't announce the intent to combine points directly after the acquisition. So far they have treated SPG members very fairly, so am counting on them to combine points towards Lifetime.

I agree that it's likely and proper that they'll combine SPG points (at 3:1) and MR points to determine lifetime status when the two programs are fully merged. My point was just that people are touting how "easy" it is to earn lifetime MR status because the nights credit portion of the requirement can be met relatively easily. There aren't a lot of easy ways to earn 2M MR points (or 666,667 SPG points).

Don't I know it ... for us ex-US SPG located accounts without any branded CC it for sure aren't easy to exceed 666,667 SPG points ... I hope the new program find a way to address this one way or another ...

Does anyone have any recent experience with how long it takes for an account to reflect LT Plat status? My qualifying stay credited last Friday and my SPG dashboard now shows 0 years / 0 nights to LT Plat.
