I was also denied a reroute to LHR on the return a couple of months ago...

Anyway, regarding your question of AMS to DUB, here's the answer.

so nautical miles don't count then despite being the unit of measurement for air navigation?

This is happening to a lot of people flying to/out of Amsterdam. If the change is more than 2 hours you are allowed to change departure point or they will connect you from Amsterdam to an early flight.

The recommendation in these boards is for you to search for the flight you want in a radius of 500km (LHR is a possibility). Then call QR and ask for a change.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately they offices closed at 1800. It's really surprising they didn't email about this schedule change seeing as it's quite big. If someone didn't know better and turned up late and missed their flight

SvenAge, sounds like you only discovered the change by logging into the Qatar website?

Do you mind sharing the flight details and in particular when you are flying and/or putting in the Wiki? Useful for others to anticipate what might be happening to us in the future with Sake out of AMS.

I think what has happened here is the QR275/6 rotation AMS-DOH has been cancelled on their day of travel and the OP has been rescheduled to QR274 on AMS to DOH. Moving the departure either forward or back one day might be able to restore their original flight times but may scupper their onward travel plans.

The OP might want to cast an eye over their arrival time into HND, my QR812 flight is now due to arrive at 2320 rather than 2240.

A few weeks ago I noticed my return flight from HND-DOH-AMS was rescheduled so today I called CS and asked if it was possible to reroute me to DUB instead as it allows slightly longer MCT (ofcourse I realise I'm taking the ....) plus I thought DUB was within the 500mile radius according to Webflyer.

The CS agent advised AMS-DUB distance is actually 560miles and therefore wasn't a feasible reroute. I wondering if anyone knows if that's correct?

Interestingly though the CS agent did inform me that I should have been offered the option to return to LHR or any other UK airport during my original call and he would revisit the recording and revert in the next few days with his findings.

Truth is I need to get to DUB so I'm thinking AMS might be a easier connection point than LHR however I'll wait and see what CS conclude.
I make AMS-DUB 470 miles via Google maps, so you could push back there.

On the other point: I had the same experience of a CS agent acknowledging that the return should have been changed when asked first up - upon review [I presume to check if I'd actually asked] I was called back and changed to LHR as a second free change.

Unfortunately upon review of the original recording CS acknowledge that i wasn't made aware i could change the return destination however I'm deemed to have accepted that as i didn't ask!! Therefore they cannot offer any other solutions! Not very happy but it appears I'll just have to suck it up!

Just a quick thanks to those posting on the thread. I had a forthcoming flight from AMS to BKK. The flight time changed by over 6 hours so I am now able to depart and fly back into LHR at no extra cost.

Obviously, the lounge in LHR is way better than AMS and I have also lucked on and been aloted seats on the q suites flights.

It was only through reading this thread that I realised I had the option to ask to change my start and departure airport if the flight times had changed. Thanks.

What number/call center did you use? Maybe I'll call again to see if I can change my arrival do LHR as well...

Yes, I did this NRT-DOH-BRU-LHR-EDI

The BRU-LHR-EDI was on BA but the bag only made it as far as LHR. No problem doing it at NRT but it required 2 tags due to the number of transits which is where I think the issue arose.

Did you know departing NRT that was the case, or did you get flagged at flight connections in LHR and advised to recheck your bags? Hopefully you didn't arrive in EDI minus luggage?
