I think they probably came to the same conclusion as the Grand Hyatt next door that the lounge was too large for the number of guests eligible to use it. The GH downsized their lounge and now I guess the Conrad is going to do the same. Hope they come up with an acceptable substitute. That was a really nice lounge.

It probably was. I think there was a "private" lift at the entrance which was covered over like under construction.

But with this closure, the decision is easy.
And i was looking forward to it too after the earlier review
Thanks Hilton.

I have a not-yet-paid pre-paid reservation this weekend so I emailed the hotel. Note that this lounge was available when I booked and the hotel never contacted me to let me know of the change. It was confirmed that while they have had great reviews of the Clb, it is closed and they will reopen in 2013, though I did not get the impression that it was necessarily for Hhonors members.
No help for me, and likely no help for future Hhonors members staying either .
I'm still hoping for a great stay, but I have to admit that if I knew there was no lounge I would not have booked this hotel. I don't have much interest in the Cotai area and would have more likely extended my stay at the Conrad in HK instead, expensive as it is, or else found a hotel in another area of Macau. I know it's strange, but I just love good hotel lounges!
Ah, well. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Just returned from a stay here. My fiance made the booking and has no status. That said, the personal service blew away anywhere else I have stayed - it was borderline creepy how overly helpful everyone was.
For a standard non-upgraded room it was very nice. Very roomy with a king size bed and a couch in the room. Location was great if you were intending to hit the casinos, but only so so if you want to see the main parts of Macau.
The Contai ferry terminal is close by for connections to Hong Kong (with a free shuttle from the hotel - about a 5-10minute ride). Note that ferry tickets can be purchased from the front desk to bypass the hassle of doing so at the terminal.

I have a booking at the end of November for 2 nights.
I wanted to stay at this hotel since opening back in May.
Very disappointed with the lounge situation.
There's plenty of casinos downstairs for gambling!
I will probably email reservation when I get time and see what substitutes and compensation can be made. Otherwise, I will probably just stay in HK Conrad for very minimal points/dollar difference.

Be back from my stay last week. As Diamond i got an upgrade to Club Suit on the 33. floor. The Suite wa absolut greate but the service is realy a dream in this location! I visited Hiltons evt. all over the world but the serive in the conrad Macao is unbeatable (til now for my).
@redslert: as compensation for the non existing lounge you have the:
Afternoon Tea time (3-8pm) in the lobby lounge
Cocktail time (6-8pm) also in the lobby lounge
both greate !!
And you can choose getting breakfast in the morning in the restaurant or room-serice
All for free!
Still....... a fantastic location! And do not forget visiting the old town of Macao.

I agree that the customer service was outstanding, if a little 'developing country' in the number of staff being helpful all the time! The senior customer service people that I dealt with (I had a room issue) were outstanding. I was upgraded to a suite which was almost as big as my house with a beautiful media room (Bluray player - no discs or laptop cables, though) and I would LOVE to stay there again!
I did point out my disappointment with the lack of a lounge (not in an awkward way I think) to the check-in agent, the manger who came to greet me as a Diamond member and the amazing customer service manager. I was offered apologies - that was it. No drinks, no snacks, no nothing. I was also not offered the option of breakfast in the room instead of the restaurant - I would have taken it in a second! On a weird time zone for my body I was there at opening time with 50 different hot dishes which had probably been sitting there luke warm for the last hour.
The highlight of my 2 night stay was my dinner at the Tasting Room. Best meal I have eaten out in at least 5 years, and WAY better than the 3 Michelin star place that I ate in HK a few days earlier.

This is a little different from my experience.

Presently on my second visit to the Conrad Macau. I was upgraded again to a King Deluxe Suite and I can confirm the new arrangement as stated by SerocoOl. There is an actual letter from the Guest Relations Manager listing the benefits of the afternoon tea and evening cocktail. For breakfast, the choice was the buffet breakfast at the Grand Orbit restaurant or the American breakfast from room service. The Front Office manager who escorted me to my room made sure I saw the letter which was on the desk in the room. The lack of the EL aside, the service at the hotel is as good as ever. The adjacent shopping center is now opened up to the third floor and the food court has some pretty interesting food. I noticed they also increased the internet speed to 3 mbps download which is a much appreciated improvement.

We are in Hong Kong now at the Ritz Carlton. The topic of the Conrad closing the Club lounge in Macau has come up. Apparently the news is making the rounds within the hospitality community. Also heard from one person a new Lounge is being prepared. Anyone hear that? For those of course who have been doubt nothing will compare.

Guess i'll just wait and see. I'll report back after my stay at the end of year.
