On the phone with Delta Diamond line right now cancelling my flight for tomorrow. I asked about compensation for the inconvenience. The agent is being pretty abrubt and telling me to "call back monday and talk to corporate if I want compensation" (Not sure who I am supposed to talk to at "Corporate" haha) and that "I wont get it because this is a weather related event". (I dont think this guy usually answers calls at the diamond line).
My guess is any cancellation in the next 2 - 3 weeks is going to be blamed on "weather" so I doubt Delta is going to provide anything other than the refund.

Yeah that would be the main obstacle. It would be difficult to prevent abuse.

A little bird whispered into my ear and told me the problem now.
DL's Crew Schedule Computer System crashed.
This is not a rumor. I checked with three different people, all know what is going on.
Good luck and safe and happy travels!

And there it is. Can see why they'd want to keep that under wraps. Suddenly, it shifts from weather (and no compensation) to DL's fault (and compensation).

Thank god for the sky clubs and all their staff. They were awesome despite all the problems they encountered. Rebooking there was at least 2-3 hours quicker than outside in terminal. International club stayed open till 0400( when everyone in line had been rebooked) and B terminal stayed open all night. Way crowded but much better than the terminal which looked like a homeless shelter.

Hopefully there will be some leaks to the media over the next few days.

At what point should airlines start being thought of as major parts of the transportation infrastructure, with certain standards being set to support reliable operations? Maybe that time is here, especially with real competition at an all time low.

Agree with others that communication was the biggest issue. Re:crew computer system: not having a crew was the cause of our 8.5 hour delay sfo to MSP today. So thankful for that great sky club that I spent all day in.
whatbwas so frustrating is the delays kept being pushed back only 30 minutes at a time so you had to stay close.
Also, strange, once we left, the plane was not catered Exocet for packaged snacks. No meal
in F and no BOB. The crew also waited more than an hour to start drink service with no turbulence.

Just came back to NYC home from LGA at 2:30 AM. Was scheduled on 5:25 flight to ATL to connect to another flight. Never seen so much chaos, even at LGA. Flight after flight was cancelled, typically after the (delayed) departure time. At least for platinum level, there are NO seats on ANY flight from anywhere in the entire Northeast to ATL until Monday or Tuesday. Also, NO seats on ANY flight from NYC to the west coast until Monday. Will be a very tough weekend.
