Since you're our resident media person with contacts, I hope you write an article about the crew IT issues. Delta is clearly trying to sweep this under the rug, and there are thousands of people who are owed compensation at this point.

*Oops, never-mind. Just checked the blog. Thanks Rene!

After reading the threads here and on other sites I think I'm quite lucky. I was supposed to fly NRT-ATL-HOU on 4/6. NRT-ATL was delayed about 30 minutes and shortly after arriving in ATL I received the notification that my onward connection had been cancelled. I was able to get through by phone with only about a 10 minute hold to rebook onto a ATL-IAH flight with confirmed seats. Though it ended up being about 4 hours late I was able to get on it and home. My bags stayed behind in ATL but supposedly I should be getting them today. We'll see.

In my situation my biggest gripe was how the flight kept getting delayed by only 30 minutes (8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:40, 10:00, then finally 10:45). Had I known that I would have just stayed at the bar.

It would be shear misery to be flying TATL (or worse, TPAC), then landing in the US 14 jet lagged hours later - only to confront the mass of humanity/chaos which many DL hubs are experiencing..

Current status SNAFU.

At DCA. Gate agent boarded a flight for MSP before announcing they have no pilots. Detroit flight announced no pilots at the moment they were supposed to begin boarding (though all indications beforehand were that the flight was "On Time").

Sky Club rebooking people for earliest available... on Tuesday.

Much of CVG's schedule today is badly delayed, with a few cancellations already rolling in. Same for all the DC-area airports. I'm sure it's the same at every other airport east of the Mississippi.

CVG has a crew base, so in theory they should have more options than an outstation. That's how bad this is.

Current hold time on PM line is 1:45. I'm curious what the wait for the regular line is.

I've got a flight tomorrow for DTW-LAS, what is your opinion on this meltdown still going on tomorrow? I'm wondering if I should proactively cancel and get a refund and then fly United

Just tried a friend's phone. The system has given up trying to give an estimate. It just says: "we'll call you back in: more than 2 hours."

I'm sure the PR department was all over this. The system telling people 10+ hours probably didn't look good for DL.

Reading this thread has only made me more grateful that I was able to fly into LGA on Thursday afternoon and get home. And that I'm not flying next week at all. To all of you stuck somewhere now, I hope you all get home soon and safely.

Unless you have refundable fare, you won't be able to cancel for a refund unless your flight has already been delayed by more than 90 minutes. The waiver will let you apply the value of your ticket to a future flight with no change fee, but it does not provide for a full refund.

You first have to speak to a real person on Delta's multi hour wait, backed up phone systems (good luck with that) - and then find some seats on UA - which are filling up w/DL passengers being moved by DL ticket staff. DL rebooked me on PNS-DFW-LAS, United.

This is the problem I experienced last night at T7, and have a few other times as well. They keep posting the delays in 30 min increments or so when they have to know that the new departure time isn't going to happen. If there is no crew and no imminent crew on the way then it's going to be awhile. And in two cases last night the app showed something like "departure time 11:00 pm" and "boarding time 11:10 pm". That makes no sense.

DL has really hosed this one up good.

Thought things would be rocky Thursday, but back to full strength on Friday. The fact that they're rebooking people who aren't flying today for Tuesday doesn't give me a lot of hope we're out of the woods on this.
