Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

By chance were you able to grab any pictures. I'm kinda curious as to what changes DL made to the ol' loft.

Negative, Sir.

It looks nice, though.

On another note.....there were lines with 10+ women out of each of the public restrooms @ T3 just now. What a Fing nightmare.

Good god....T3 IS like a third-world airport. It honestly reminded me of NBO. Yuck.
To be fair, NBO's new termial is quite nice.

Well, my recent experience, T2 gate space is entirely too tight and DL needs to rearrange furniture to make boarding orderly. Security was disorderly as well. What a mess!

I arrived at T3 today around 7:15 AM and made it from the curb through security (Pre Check) in less than 10 minutes. The same deal took me about 20 minutes on Thursday afternoon. The buses between T2, T3 & Bradley are very frequent as I took them 5 times over the last 2 days and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one and usually less than 5. I can't remember if it was T2 or T3 but on Thursday they were giving passengers that had access a $15 food voucher because the lounge wasn't open.

the last time I was there was in 2013, to be fair.

and the busses between T2-3 are very quick and plentiful. At least DL has THAT working unlike the Jitney system at JFK!

It's been called T3rd World on FlyerTalk for years, and not for nothing.

Can anyone confirm whether the showers are operational at either LAX club?

After swearing I wouldn't book an itinerary through LAX over the next six months, I ended up doing it anyway: the siren song of coming back from Haneda was too strong to pass up, and now I'll have a solid five hours (uggh) to kill...

One curiosity question, as I don't use LAX all the often (and when I did tend to use it, I was flying AA so was in T4). I'm certain I read the details in the past, but now that this move is complete, DL has somewhat significantly increased the number of gates they have at LAX, is that right? How many gates did DL have access to pre-move versus now in T2/T3?

My math could be off a bit, but DL had preferential access to 16 gates (13 in T5 and 3 in T6). Currently, T3 has 12 and T2 has 10. I think gate 133 is CUTE.

However, I would hope DL would close 3 quickly to start the rebuild.

Also, they can re-stripe the gates to give them no more than 27 gates in the T2 T3 area.

Yes, DL is going from 16 to 23 gates, so an overnight increase of nearly 50% plus I believe they will get more in TBIT and possibly more from the reconstruction of T3. That capacity expansion is entirely what this move is about, IMO; any long term benefits to customer experience due to collocation with partners or a beautiful renovated T3 sometime next decade are incidental. DL's PR about an improved passenger experience in the short term is bs, although they carefully worded their PR to say that the T3 and T2 experience will be improved relative to how T2/3 were, not claiming that they'll be better than T5 for several years. That is true but irrelevant from a passenger point of view.

Mother of ugly, and just when I thought LAX couldn't get any worse?

Didn't Delta just spend 7 years renovating T5/6 too? And just finish T5 a year or 2 ago?

If you read the last few pages of this thread, you will see that waiting for a gate at LAX has been a huge complaint of DL flyers over the past years. The almost 50% increase in gates is a very real short term improvement
