One major benefit with Avios over AM is they don't expire as long as you have some form of account spend every three years.

Obviously for those who burn AM quickly, this really isn't an issue, but for me who sometimes struggles, its enough for me to be moving away from AM towards Avios.

Let alone the convenience of being able to book almost all partners online with BA, except that their schedule opens five days after CX's.

With the HSBC VISA Signature, do you earn 3x RC for all type of transactions? I am planning to make purchase online and wondering if they are counted or not (I know Citi do not give points for online purchases).

Thanks in advance.

Not all types of transactions will earn you 3X RC. For ones which you will earn 3X RC, you can refer to https://www.hsbc.com.hk/personal/rew...ur-choice.html

Just remember there is a cap (the current one ends 31 December 2015).

If your purchases are online, then to the best of my knowledge if they fall under the 6 categories.

If you spend enough online, maybe you can consider getting the CCB eye card.

Citi do award points for online purchases. They only not award points for overseas transactions billed in HKD (e.g. HKD spending at Expedia / Hotels.com / ba.com)

On the other hand, if it is an overseas transaction (irrespective of the billing currency), you can get extra 3x (4x in total) with HSBC Visa Signature.

Not for any payment to IRD. The only way to earn points is Wacko's strategy in the wiki.

By MCC (dining/travel agency/airline/dept store)

Actually this is a dumbed down version of the BoC Wealth Management VI offer already posted in the wiki by derek2010, except with this one you only need to put 200K in BoC not 1M.

Thanks for clarification about HSBC VISA Signature.

About Citi Prestige, do you mean they award points for oversea online purchase in other currencies (e.g. Amazon, Expedia)?

Thanks LchChester for the clarification.

I am thinking of applying the BEA Flyer World MC but I heard you will not earn miles for Insurance. Is that correct? How about if I am paying for my Blue Cross medical insurance (charge to my card annually) and travel insurance (paid over the internet)?
