Bit skeptical - many of us here play BEA with targeted promos. This new card may not get targeted
OK
Background - I have two BEA cards:
BEA Core Plat Visa (<-- this card keeps getting spending offers)
BEA Towngas co-brand Plat Visa
BEA i-account (no SupremeGold)

Called 3608 6688
Was told that BEA Core Plat is eligible for upgrade
But Towngas, as a co-brand, is not.

Transition arrangements:
BEA Core Plat Visa will be replaced by a Flyer World Mastercard (is a World Mastercard)
New card number
Core Plat Visa points will be moved to new card
Need to register before 29/6 2211 1898 (they close at 5PM)

New card features:
Local spend @ $8/mile
Overseas spend @ $4/mile
Cannot redeem anything but miles
No redemption fee
UA Cinema up to 20% off and waiver on booking fee

If they're replacing my Core Plat, I think I'll go along with it. Let me go clear my points balance first - I need some of the Core Plat's points to go clear my Towngas.

is that anyone with BEA Plat Visa (not co-brand) is eligible to request for the upgrade?

Well your Unionpay will never be upgraded.

If you have 155,600 pts in your Plat Visa account, strongly advise you call 3608 6688 immediately. If you can upgrade, you can move those points to new Flyer World card and avoid redemption fee.

If you cannot upgrade, you should redeem the points ASAP.

I didn't process the upgrade yet (I need to clear the points of my non-eligible cards, and I need to use some points on the eligible card as well before it is upgraded). I only called to check whether my cards were eligible for upgrade.

I suggest you *check* (not request) for the upgrade first.
This way you can make an informed decision of whether to incur the $240 redemption fee or not.

If your BEA Plat is eligible for upgrade, you need not do any redemption and process the upgrade. After the upgrade has been processed you can redeem the 155,600 points for free
If your BEA Plat is not eligible for upgrade, then you need to perform the redemption and incur the redemption fee on or before 29 June

ssw207: I'll be very surprised, given Amex benefits have gone nowhere but down.
