Fubon - Bill payment to non-utilities and govt now require OTP and limit registratio
http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...w.php?id=12076
http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/html...e140325_e.html
"With effect from 15 Apr 2014, merchant category under our e-Bill Payment Service will be re-grouped. To pay bills, customers are required to pre-set transaction limits of the bill payment services and apply for "One Time Password SMS Service" (except for bills of Government and Statutoty Orgainization & Public Utilities). Please click here for details http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/html/eb_Overview_e.html.
Note: If customer has not used "One Time Password" in e-bill payment for one year, customer is required to re-apply for it .
With effect from 31 Oct 2011, SMS-based One Time Password (OTP) and related notification SMS issued by our bank will be sent to your registered mobile phone number only. The OTP and related notification SMS will not forwarded even though you have enabled "SMS Forwarding" service provided by the Telecommunication Company."
I clarified with CS, to pay a non-utilities/govt bill now, you must submit this form http://www.fubonbank.com.hk/web/doc/eb_App2ndFactor.pdf to branch to to *both* of the following:
1. Register for One-Time Password; and
2. Raise limit from nil (new post-15 Apr default) to max $50,000
Bit upset about this cos there appears to be no mailed notice - did anyone get any? Can't pay a bill this weekend and have to use BEA instead.
All I seem to find is the following message on the login website:
https://www.ebank.fubonbank.com.hk/index0128.html
"With effect from 15 Apr 2014, merchant category under our e-Bill Payment Service will be re-grouped. Please click here for details."
Did anyone here get mailed notice?
I do notice that flyformiles.flyday.hk seemed seemed to have picked it up as early as 19 March http://flyformiles.flyday.hk/%e5%af%...f%86%e7%a2%bc/ , but given lack of discussion in hongkongcard.com and here I am guessing Fubon didn't mail any of us.

I'm going to Japan in the end of the month. Even re-applied to get Fubon for it.

Cap at 300 RC ($7,500 spend) --> 450AM basic + 4,500 AM extra ($1.52/mile)
*** min $500 per spend ***
No prohibitions on online/fax/mail/phone (c.f. Red Hot Travel Special below)

- 6X is set to Oversea
- $2500 CX YQ...aka bill as HKD
Normally, this would mean only a lousy 10RC / 150 Asia Miles.
But with Prom 210, (assuming under 7K), does that mean it will earn 60 RC / 900 Asia Miles? Or am I missing anything?

or 110RC/1,500 mile if you can accumulate 4,500 other HKD spending on the card.

Need to charge 2X $2500. Will still be another $2000 short.
Unfortunately I dont think I have any other 'local' spending to charge, as I will not be Hong Kong prior to the promotional period ends. Anything else I charge would end up reflecting in 'HSBC Red Hot Travel Special 8 Apr-11 May''s accumulation instead. Which...I haven't even used for a while

Are transactions in MOP considered as local for HSBC cards?

Two things:
First, this isn't strictly for HK-based earning but might be relevant to some: HSBC in the U.S. has an offer for 2,000 bonus points for USD500 spend on the U.S.-based Premier MasterCard May 1-31. (Normal earn rate is USD1=1point=1AM.) So at USD500=500 base points + 2000 bonus = 2500AM or 20 cents per mile. But bonus points are capped at 2000 for the promotion.
Second, is there something I'm missing with the 6x HSBC HK category bonus? I just noticed on my latest statement, they only credited 6RC for the month on a bit more than HKD1600 in eligible spend (my category is dining). I had a look at my receipts and they do all say "Food and beverage" and none were at hotels. Have other people had problems with the bonus RC not posting? This is the first time I've noticed this, although I haven't always looked that carefully. Now wondering if I should go back and check the past few months after all.

FOLLOW-UP AS OF MAY 1:
I called them and it was as percysmith suggested: They had un-enrolled me. For others who are checking their RC balances now (I suspect everyone should just to be sure), the procedure turns out to be that you have to re-enroll for the program through the normal channels, including the three-business-day wait for it to take effect. Meanwhile, they can add up your eligible spending and the agent said she'll try to back credit them within two working days.
It worked out to 115RC they had shorted me, so 1725 miles!
