It's wrong, and they know it's wrong but they are doing it to conserve cash.
Thanks - travel insurance claim it is in that case...

A revised June schedule should be out shortly, I believe the transborder/international suspension is being extended until July 4.

Any word on how WS is handling people who book onto the international flights to Europe. Are they rebooking them onto AC at this point?

It would be strange to me to see one airline book guests onto a competitor.

Happens all the time with legacy airlines. When I was based on Saskatoon I would regularly book trips to the US on the afternoon flight on United to Denver or Delta to MSP. If either one cancelled or the delay was significant enough to not be recoverable the same day the normal response was to move me onto the other guy. I had the same with AC and European airlines when they can't reroute on their metal and get me to the destination the same day.

They've now removed all International/US inventory until July 4 except for full fare classes. I imagine they would offer re-booking options on its partner airlines first (DL, KL,AF etc.)

Also CEO Ed Sims was interviewed by PostMedia and mentioned about possibly deferring or cancelling future 787 deliveries. He also said they want to resume flying to LGW, CDG, DUB and FCO as "soon as it's safe to do so". (The article doesn't specifically mention BCN or GLA, but I assumed they were only talking about Dreamliner routes). I would venture a guess in saying Gatwick and possibly Paris will come back at some point this year, but unsure about the others?

Also says he doesn't expect any kind of "recovery" until late this year.

Revised June schedule has been published. The article says the International/US routes are only suspended until June 25, but in the booking system it shows most are suspended until July 4.

The following is available for booking from June 26-July 4 in full fare only:
YYC-LAX
YYC-ATL
YVR-LAX
YYZ-LGA

Briefly YYZ-MCO/CUN also appeared but those flights are zeroed out currently.

Was supposed to travel to CDG today. We received credit to travel bank about 10 days ago.

I just got notification of cancellation of my flights mentioned upthread. Cancellation email was as follows:

Due to adjustments to our flight schedule, we're sorry to advise you that it has been necessary to change one or more of your WestJet flights and we are unable to provide an alternative flight option.

We are not processing refunds to original form of payment at this time. The full value of your flight will be refunded to a WestJet travel bank, which is valid for 24 months from date of issue. If you prefer a refund to original form of payment, we will provide information at a later date.

It is disappointing that they are not rebooking onto another airline to get your to your destination. That basically means If as we reopen if I have any urgent flights that pop up am I not booking WS.

Who on earth is going to Las Vegas, Orlando and Cancun in the near future?

LAS & MCO were very odd choices indeed.

As for Mexico, it could be for people who want to leave rather than go. Before they yanked the flights in June, I noticed the YYC-MZT flights were virtually empty but the returns MZT-YYC were fairly busy.

I can't speak to Cancun but LAS and MCO each do a ton of trade show business, and from about August onward most of the events seem to be planning to run as scheduled.

I wind up in MCO at least three or four times each year attending events at the Orange County Convention Center ... flights are always interesting, with families on their way to see Mickey Mouse. The kids are usually completely wired on the way down, and sound asleep from exhaustion on the ride home.

LAS also does a mountain of trade show business. That said, a lot of the shows I attend have begun migrating to Florida from LAS to take advantage of much lower costs, at least the ones that operate outside of the hurricane season.

LAS has always been a weird place. I work with two companies that have manufacturing facilities there. There is an economy other that the Casinos and the people who work in the non gambling industry stay in the non-tourist part of the city. There is probably no shortage of second homes there. All that said, I have no plans to head down to LAS or any part of the US if I can help it. I don't think people are heading to Conventions either.

Best WS should be doing is connecting into Delta hubs and feeding tracking.
