To the extent a little improvement might have been detectable a couple weeks ago, it is gone now. After Tuesday the system went into complete free fall, to the worst levels yet. Ouch, hub dwellers and users, you have our sympathies:

Monday 8/13: on-time mainline departures 40% PHL, 52% CLT
Tuesday: 46% PHL, 62% CLT
Wednesday: 32% PHL, 46% CLT
Thursday: 6% PHL, 20% CLT
Friday: 9% PHL, 25% CLT
Saturday: 12% PHL, 25% CLT
Sunday 8/19: 11% PHL, 27% CLT

Something is seriously wrong when US's on-time departure percentages start to dip lower than most peoples' mortgage rates. I wonder if they're shooting for 0%??

Maybe they think the lower the number, the higher the ranking!

Remember kids, it's not a schedule - it's a suggestion.

After last week's debacle, things could scarcely get worse. Worse, alas, is exactly what they got. PHL hit a new low, with back to back days in the single digits and only one day of seven above 20%. With approximately 150 daily PHL departures, 4% means 6 planes left on time. CLT peaked for the week at 36% on Sunday. The tragic numbers:

Monday 8/20: on-time mainline departures 4% PHL, 24% CLT
Tuesday: 6% PHL, 20% CLT
Wednesday: 13% PHL, 33% CLT
Thursday: 15% PHL, 25% CLT
Friday: 12% PHL, 25% CLT
Saturday: 16% PHL, 32% CLT
Sunday 8/26: 24% PHL, 36% CLT

FOUR percent?!?

Wow. Just wow.

And that's in the summer -- no snow.

Imagine what will happen in November or December with an inch or two on the runway.

I was stuck in a 4.5 hour delay in PHL on Monday and can confirm that it was an absolute zoo. Actually, a zoo would have been preferable. The problem was it was raining. Not thunderstorms as far as I could see, but raining. If rain puts the on-time stat down to 4% don't you think maybe someone should look at the problem???

I am fascinated by these week by weeks stats. Thanks for posting.

yes, looking across the two weeks as a whole, things seem to be awful when the weather is good and catastrophic when it's less than good.

Let me say this again.... I still don't believe it's gone on this long.

4 percent on-time performance at your primary international hub is just plain unbelievable to me..... and the other days aren't that much better.
