I am a segments addict. Been like that for over 9 years. Will close this year with 101 segments.

I first made 1K via segments 5 years ago and will be forced to go that way this year. Given reduced travel this will probably be my last year, so nice bookends there, I guess. Frankly I'm getting tired of MSN-ORD; MKE-ORD; SEA-GEG; SEA-PDX; PDX-EUG; PDX-RDM; PDX-MFR. Loss of 500 EQM for short routes killed me, so I added a bunch of segments where I would normally have driven. Now with retroactive addition of those miles I would have made 1K without the segments!

Currently at 120 segments and counting... Thank you god for the return of the 500-mile minimums! (The irony is that those will only cover the new additional mileage needed to redeem!) Genius United! HAHAHA!

I have a friend who flies roundtrip from MRY (Monterey) to CLD (Carlsbad) every two weeks. The routing requires a change in LAX. That's 4 segments every two weeks - 26 x 4 = 104 segments. Even with 500 miles/segment, it's only 2000 x 26 = 52,000 base miles. A couple of times when she was short, she just did 3 legs each direction - MRY/SFO/LAX/CLD - same fare.

definitely not a record....we all bow before Kiwi Flyer - 400+ segments last year...just absurd.
