1K via segment isn't hard.
Once a week meeting from LAX-SFO will do: 104 segments.

I've made 1K on segments for the past two years. This year should be through miles; especially with the current double EQM promo.

I made 1K on segments last year, 103 total. This year thanks to DEQM, I'll make it on EQMs. I do believe it should be DEQM and DEQS, but I guess UA doesn't feel the same way.

iceman77_7 senior makes it on segments, SFO-SAN rt each week. I suppose of the all the segments to take, this is one of the more painless ones (lots of flights each day, generally good weather with few cancellations and delays).

Last couple years at 175-190 segs. Average stage length a little less than 1000 miles.
I thought I was really earning it the studly way when I was commuting transcon every other week on empty A320s. Ah, youth.

15 straight years of making 1K on 100 segments or more. Peaked at 175 segments. Told my boss that it was too much. Now do a manageable 125/yr.

My first year qualifying as a 1k was by segments. I lived in LA and my girlfriend lived in SF and I visited her almost every weekend. Sure I can get 1k that way through a year, but can't get the benefits until next year. So I was booking SNA-LAX-SBA-SJC round trip and got 1k after 17 trips.
The next year I qualified both by segments and miles doing nearly the same thing, but also flying more longer distance flights.
This was all on my own dime, not corporate travel.
As for the girlfriend, she and I have been happily married for 7 years.

I made 1k last year with 120 segments, I have made status ever year based on status. I just wish United had a segment equivalent of lifetime 1MM, maybe something like 1000 lifetime segments.

I made 1k on segments last year for the first time, totaled about 145 segments IIRC. One thing that makes it easier for me is I generally have to hop through ORD or IAD to go anywhere so I get 4 per trip. A good couple of months I was flying on B fares so I got 1.5 segs to make it a tad better.

340 (+/- 1 or 2) segments in my best (worst) year of flying. Was US CP, UA 1P, CO Plat all on SEGMENTS!
Last year I did 233 on CO, and foolishly left all *A eliteness fall away. Currently heading to 1K on segments (already have CO plat for this year!)

Only other time I hit 100 segments was last year when i qualified on both segments and eqms. I had a trial in LA and with a baby at home did 32 RTs to LA in 8 weeks... That and a bunch of transcons and connections to DCA put me over 100.

A couple of years ago I ended up with ~70 or so segments. I really wanted to slit my wrists, so I completely empathize with the 100+ segment crowd.

Have made 1K on segments each year since 1995. Am currently at 1865 UA segments lifetime since M+ start in '81. I fly mostly around the West U.S. and most often around Calif, so it took a lot of yrs. to make MM.

WOW I feel for you, that is just nuts. I love to fly like everyone else on this board, and did 137k last year on about 95 EQS +/- 1 or 2, and that was the most ever for me...my highest before that was like 77k, and I though last year was nuts for me.
Congrats (I guess) on your quantity of segs, that is amazing
