Not only will you both have the same service/seat, but it is the domestic configuration 763 so not all that great a ride.

If possible, OP, I would try to fly on a 777 to HNL. The 767 F seats are very narrow, and can be uncomfortable for 4-5 hours.

Or a 757. Both the 777 and 757 are better than 767 to HNL, unless you're after laptop power. (The 757 doesn't have it; the 767/777 do.)

Three Class 767 or Not?

In looking to book ORD-SFO, FLT #973 shows availability in C on a 767. However, when I click on the seat map, although it lists Business and First, the seat maps are the same.

So does this flight have C class seats and more importantly are they the new configuration lie flat seats?

If the seatmap show a domestic config, and if the fare buckets are offering C & F, it is most likely the beginning (or continuation) of an intl flight.

Most likely you will be in domestic F.

It's a two-class domestic 767. It has domestic F seats.
It shows C availability because the flight number is also used for an international leg (BRU-ORD).

ORD-SFO FLT 907 usually is 763 config 3-class, with lie-flat C and separate F class.

Except they get swapped off regularly like yesterday's... Found a bird strike 5 min before the boarding and a chaos ensued. ::shrug

C vs F on SFO/LAX-HNL flights

I've searched around but can't find the answer to my specific question so I'll post and await the wrath...

I am finding availability for CR1 use for various SFO or LAX to HNL flights but don't know whether to book a 3-cabin and sit in C or a 2-cabin and sit in F. All of the 3-cabins are the old business class. Still, on comfort I suppose I'd choose to sit in C, but I feel like I've read that C service has gotten worse - no meal choice for example. So what would you choose?

3 cabin C almost always >>> 2 cabin F. But I didn't think they had any regularly scheduled 3 cabin service to HI...

Are you looking at the CO BF flights to HI? Those would be a great use of a CR-1 - if/when there is upgrade reciprocity.

UA does not operate 3-cabin aircraft between SFO/LAX and HNL.

I don't think there are any 3 class flights between LAX/SFO - HNL. So check on that. Remember there are 2 class 777s to HNL.

If you do find 3 class, grab them. I suspect they will have the same service as 2 class F, with a much, much better seat (even if it is old C).

I was looking at UA901 SFO HNL 1915 2131, and UA912 HNL LAX 1255 2121, both in September. They're certainly selling C, but I guess you just end up in an F cabin anyway? How disappointing.

This is correct, unless you route through NRT.@:-) (however, the OP would need to surn SWU's, rather then CR1's).

Also, we were discussing it in another thread, but UA would traditionally schedule a 744 to HI around Christmas week. However, with the old config leased away, and another slated to be grounded in Q4. I would doubt that it will be done this year.
