For those non-GS using PPs on SFO-HNL-SFO route, when are you seeing your up grade cleared? Have mid Nov tickets purchased/requested in Sept, seat maps are showing 28 and 42 open seats on 777-300ER for the past week. I even split the locator to 1 traveler per booking and we are all still waitlisted.
As 1K, I seems to get CPU around T-17 hours of the flight. Any data point on when UA clears PP upgrades? Thanks! |

GS or not - I generally see a large upgrade sweep at the T-24, The PlusPoints will get you higher on the list - but may or may not clear any farther in advance of 24 hours as they try to upsell F.

I've also seen them wait to process upgrades at the gate, even with >10 available seats remaining (example SFO-EWR). I've noticed a fair number of equipment swaps on this route, so I suspect this may be a reason why they hold back. |
PP expiry dates
Hello. UA itinerary on which PP had been applied was canceled. PP restored to my 1K account. Expiry date is 31Jan 2022.
I am trying to clarify whether a new itinerary booked prior to the PP expiry date can include travel after that date. I received conflicting info from 1K desk and Service Center. Thanks for any feedback. |
The first segment when applying PlusPoints must be before the expiration -- you'll find the PlusPoints aren't available for bookings after their expiration.

You have it correct; you cannot use an upgrade certificate that will expire prior to departure, whether there's a waitlist or not.

PlusPoints will not even show being available if looking at flights past the expiration. When deducted is not a factor (previously GPU were deducted on application). |

My PlusPoints ares still valid/unexpires, but my journey starts after the PlusPoints expires. Can I use them for that journey? No Short answer: No. David |

I am a 1K member and have qualified this year, I have some questions re PP Expiry, I have 180 PP expiring in Jan 2022, are these likely to be extended? I understand that for a 1K some PP points can be extended at request, if so what amount is that and till when?
Secondly in regards to utilizing these PP, If I make a reservation for a flight in May and clear my Plus points upgrade immediately will this use my PP expiring in Jan 2022 or the ones from Jan 23? |
