for those who cleared at booking, did your flight say that it was waitlist at all or did it have a green checkmark when you purchased your flight

Generally those that clear before check-in will not appear on the waitlist as cleared and those at booking will not appear on the waitlist at all.

Minor nuance: the exact threshold is 24h to departure, rather than check in. A passenger cleared at t-23h even without having checked in will still show on the cleared list.

Upgrades cleared in drips and drabs; all eventually cleared T-3 days (1st and Polaris)

AVP-EWR-GVA-EWR-AVP
May
Booked E four weeks in advance, all except AVP-EWR wait-listed at booking
Upgrades clearing here and there; so far AVP-EWR-GVA cleared to 1st/Polaris

Let me clarify a bit more -

for those who cleared their upgrade at purchase, did your flight under upgrade availability show as "Waitlist" or the blue circle icon or did it show "Available" or the green checkmark.

The latter would be, to me, understandable why your upgrade did clear because PZ is available. However if folks are purchasing flights without PZ availability aka "Waitlist" but still clearing their upgrade at purchase that would be a different insight altogether IMO.

If that "Waitlist" scenario is not possible, then I am mistaken.
