Active thread; UA-Schedule changes; +25% TATL 2022 capacity, Q2 TPAC down 65% vs 2019; June changes
UA publishes a schedule for 330 days in advance (called Beginning of Schedule) and in the past would make tweaks quarterly and things would be fairly settles 3-4 months out. Updates would occur Friday evening / Saturday morning (Chicago time). Routine additions could occur anytime.
20 Oct 2021
However, during the COVID era, UA has gone to a more dynamic and shorter-term setting of schedule (as has the other carriers). Presently UA, while UA is still publishing a schedule for 330 days in advance it reflects pre-COVID operational levels and is considered just a placeholder schedule. Then 3-5 weeks prior to a month, UA makes a major update of that month's schedule.
Examples (Major updates)
The October 2020 schedule was updated 4-5 September 2020
The November 2020 schedule was updated 2-3 October 2020
The December 2020 schedule was updated 30-31 October 2020
Holidays can move the major date a week earlier or later.
Weekly updates are still generally done over night Friday-Saturday (Chicago)
UA does not publish a summary of most schedule changes but a variety of sources below do and summaries / links of those sources can be found in this thread & wiki.

Change Fees "Are Gone For Good"(Worldwide ex-USA,non-BE),waiver til March2021 for all
Change Fees Are Gone For Good
The only thing constant is change and at United Airlines, some of the fees associated with changes related to flying are gone for good. The carrier announced today that it is permanently getting rid of change fees on all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the U.S., effective immediately. And starting on January 1, 2021, any United customer can fly standby for free, regardless of fare type, on a flight departing the day of their travel, a first among U.S. carriers, while MileagePlus® Premier® members can confirm a seat on a different flight on the same day with the same departure and arrival cities as their original ticket if a seat in the same ticket fare class is available.
United is also extending its waiver for new tickets issued through December 31, 2020, to permit unlimited changes with no fee. This policy applies to all ticket types issued after March 3, 2020 and is valid for domestic and international travel.
The new change fee policy applies to all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the U.S. 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and customers will not be limited in the number of times they adjust their flights.
Additionally, United is giving customers more flexibility to change their flights on the day of their travel so they can head home if a meeting ends earlier or enjoy a few more hours on vacation. With the ability to list for same-day standby for free, customers will now have an option to take a different flight with the same origin and destination airports as their original itinerary if space is available at departure. This enhanced option will be available to all customers for travel within the U.S. and to and from international destinations beginning on January 1, 2021. Customers who want to switch flights will be able to add themselves to the standby list through United’s award-winning mobile app, on united.com or at the airport no later than 30 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and one hour before departure on international flights.
The carrier is also improving the travel experience for its MileagePlus members including waiving all redeposit fees on award travel for flights changed or cancelled more than 30 days before departure and allowing all MileagePlus Premier members to confirm a different flight on the day of their travel. As a way to thank MileagePlus Premier members for their loyalty, beginning January 1, 2021, all Premier members will be able to confirm a seat for free on a different flight with the same departure and arrival cities as their original ticket. This expanded option will allow MileagePlus Silver members and above to confirm a new seat in the same ticket fare class if space is available. Earlier this year, United announced that it will extend status for MileagePlus Premier and United Global Services® members through January 2022. United also reduced thresholds for Premier qualification by 50 percent for each status level, to make reaching an even higher status tier easier.

I haven't left the US yet, so not as impacted as others with short term travel are. I start with travel to Tallinn next week. Just trying to sort out what options I have to salvage any or all of this trip. If I have to fly home from Finland I will, though my preference would be to continue onto both London and Dublin. Would he happy to backtrack from Dublin to London if I need to, but sitll have the concern about new entry requirements being put in place. Will have to make a call by Monday at latest and will hopefully have lots more information to work with by the weekend.

Good Evening All -
As you are all aware the President announced earlier this evening suspension of travel relating to Europe. I am still not clear on the exact details here but have amended the thread title to attempt to capture the most pertinent data we've got. Please feel free to suggest title edits as the situation develops - you can do so by RBP'ing to this post or shoot me a message on discord.

Also wondering how long this position would be sustainable with the number of community-acquired cases in the UK rising significantly as well.
It currently says "all of Europe except for the UK". Still waiting for the official confirmation. I'd consider it a huge mistake if it is actually Schengen, as there's a huge difference between Europe and Schengen but the word is out now.

Ireland is not part of the UK but is part of Europe, so afaik it is impacted, but let's wait for the official confirmation. It would make sense if they want to funnel all pax through LHR.
WSJ explicitly states Europe as well.

They're now explicitly saying Schengen and not Europe. Citizens and green card holders are exempt, but no info on how they're supposed to get home if the airlines are down.

So, this will be interesting. Airlines will fly the US - Europe leg and then deadhead it back? Vice versa for Europe based airlines. I'd bet the vast majority get cancelled all together.

I suspect that the usual wave of Friday day flights back will be fine.

So it's only Schengen (which includes Iceland, Norway and Switzerland), and a lot more European countries are excepted in addition to the UK (Ireland, Cyprus, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican City, and others). Outright ban for foreigners who have been in the Schengen area the past 14 days.
US nationals will be funneled through a few select airports that will be determined soon, I imagine LHR and DUB.

The DHS release actually lists the countries, and several countries are not on the list. Not only Ireland and the landlocked mini-states, also Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Cyprus, and so on.

I think this is such a massive case of bolting the door after the horse has left, the virus is here and has been for weeks. There have been several weeks of non management and denial
at the highest levels ,almost zero testing and poor comms , it will be a rocky ride for next 6 months. maybe the Euro's will ban travelers from Washington as the rate there are as bad as anywhere in Europe. I also not sure why the UK has got a mulligan , there were 3 deaths in my home county today

Right, I don't think flights to the mainland banned countries will survive. So Europeans currently in the US and scheduled to fly back home will have to find different routings.
