FAs need to add two table spoon water, mix the pasta with sauce and then heat it up, that’s it, problem solved!

Jan 10 10:15am DEN-MCO catering mishap. The lead FA announced to the whole F cabin that the meal was going to be like “astronaut food” and profusely apologized before we pushed back. She said there were catering issues in DEN and that the meal didn’t look good. Wasn’t sure what to expect so I got a snack box but my partner ordered the “pasta” as the FA was telling her “just eat what you want, there’s a cookie” etc. The meal consisted of penne with tomato sauce and basil along with quinoa (which was cold), beef jerky, a kind bar, almonds, and a cranberry cookie. My partner didn’t even eat the pasta as she thought it looked disgusting but I saw other pax have it though.
So the unfortunate part is, that what you were served isn't a "mishap". Its SOP for DEN.
I made UA FTers guess which catering station "generated" my meal (The UA Frequent Flyer Quiz Thread: Where Is This?).

"Meal" is correct:
What I think that's even more impressive is the specific locale where this "pasta" dish was produced.
And, no, it wasn't catered out of EWR. And really not edible in the sense of "eating".
Additionally, for the record, only the few pieces of pasta actually inhabiting the "sauce" were edible. The rest were, how shall one put it, "significantly chewy" and not edible. The descriptor phrase of "leathery pasta" just rolls off my tougue...
For kicks and giggles, here's two more shots of the same "meal":

So to answer your question, my stomach was fine since I didn't/couldn't eat it.

Ah I had a feeling this might've happened before in DEN. This flight barely fulfills the "lunch" criteria anyway and we were CPU'd but how often is this happening? I'd rather do DEN-LAX-MCO since I had a good experience upthread

Flying IAD-DFW next week (1,172 miles) so assume sandwich in both directions? 1050am departure from IAD and 523pm departure from DFW. Many times pre-COVID the DFW departure just offered a glorified snack box with a pre-packaged cheese plate.

Assuming F? If it’s scheduled to be 2.5+ hours, you’ll get something but it will not be hot nor plated and barely edible. This is what UA thinks will suffice.

CLE-LAX, 737-800
7:00 am departure

PDB served, choices orange juice or water.
Breakfast choice Egg White Bites or Waffle
First time having the egg white bites, better than I expected. Fruit was fresh and the sausages were good.
Good service from the crew, offered to hang up coats and kept the drinks topped off throughout the flight.
