Thailand will allow certain foreigners with a Thai Work Permit to enter Thailand under certain conditions July 1. That really is all. :)

UA has applied SFO-HKG-SIN passenger services 5x weekly in July.

Wow! Is the guess for transit on to somewhere else (unsure where) or for US citizens to actually terminate and enter HK without quarantine?

2) US/Europe to lift ban in August to allow students and tourists come in.

The US actually, in theory, is quite lenient now - people from most countries are not banned from entering. The issue lies more in actually getting to the US and, if one needs a visa, the fact that consulates and embassies are basically not handling visa interviews now.

I expect

1) Japan and S. Korea to allow entry in August.
2) US/Europe to lift ban in August to allow students and tourists come in.

China is the wild card. China is so scared of virus, they might continue blocking off the country at the cost of economy.

I'm guessing that HK, Korea, Singapore, and maybe Japan will be clear soon, which is fine for me, and probably the economy as well.

When will TPE be back on the schedule?

as of right now it looks like early August. But unless Taiwan start to allow foreigners in, I’m sure the date will be pushed back.

I'm not sure I would trust to fly anything that starts Aug03 -- seems like a placeholder for me for end of June cuts and subsequent pushback.

Routes that are starting/not cutting in July is more probable to fly.

HK Restriction updates

Hong Kong on Tuesday said it would implement a two-week extension of social distancing measures, including a ban on public gatherings of more than eight people, to June 18.

The city’s entry restrictions will also remain in place until September 18 for foreign non-residents, with the exception of those who have stayed in mainland China, Taiwan and Macau for 14 days prior to their arrival in Hong Kong.

Residents of those places are also allowed into the city if they have not travelled elsewhere prior to their arrival.

I am most hopeful of SIN (at least for transit) and Thailand (their economy is really suffering and desperately needs tourism). Maybe in September.

China is a lost cause. HK is very much following China. Taiwan and Japan likely will lift ban before HK. Maybe October?

I was actually speaking about those other countries in the context of China (i.e. I expect that we will be able to travel somewhat freely between China and them within the next month or two).

Hopefully, American will be able to travel all the countries listed in your prior post and China within the next month or two. I know China may not be welcome Americans back so soon, but if American can enter HK, SIngapore, Japan or Korea and stay for an extended period of time (for example 14-days), hope China will allow us in.

I’ll bet you a meal at pisto that this doesn’t happen. China will remain closed to foreigners until after Oct holidays at the earliest. More likely until after next CNY. Even if they open up a travel corridor with Japan, Korea, etc. those of us with foreign passports from non corridor countries will still be barred from re-entry into China.

Does HK even have the autonomy anymore to make a decision separate from China's decisions? Not trying to venture into OMNI territory, but curious as I would like to visit HK but no interest at the moment in China.

Yes it does. The decision HK makes in regards to when to start letting in foreigners again will be their decision and not the central government’s. When it comes to deciding when to fully open the border with the mainland, this will be more “collaborative”.
