So just under 44% say they will stay with UA and MP.
How many have booked 2020 travel on *A on non-016 stock to net more PQPs?
Does the ticket spell out how many PQPs? Or won't know for sure until the flight is taken next year?

Asia based UA
It seems that the changes in UA's policy were directly at folks like me.
Most of my fying is done in Asia on star alliance partners. Used UA card for redemption
A couple of times per year I'd fly United business to the US, although recently have liked EVA airlines business class.
I cannot make UA 1K next year because of the $$$ requirements (PQP) as they are only giving a /6 for each award mile on TG/SQ/BR. flights...
My question is, does anyone know if there are programs that will do a match? I hate to abandon my 600k points with United but these new tiers will bump me from 1K to barely making silver. The pre-boarding and lounge access is the most important to me, i don't care about the RPU/GPU.
Very unhappy with United at the moment.

Have fixed my error.
Other points still remain. Not pleased with United and am looking for options. It seems atleast one other carrier is willing to match my status next year if I switch over to them..
Appears to be my chance to break away from United that will likely change their policies again next year to screw over members.
EVA Air business class last week at a substantial discuount to United fare -- better seats, better food, better wine and more attentive staff.

Just wondering, what do you think the chances are that other carriers who already don't do a pure revenue-based FF program will change over to like how United are? Specifically I'm wondering about AA and DL especially. Do you think they'll "match" next year or wait and see how things shake out for UA?
And wonder why they didn't go straight to revenue-based FF when PQD came into force instead of doing the hybrid model we had for the past few years? Technical reasons? Something else?

I think you're right on this. Then again, how many frequent flyers fly out of convenience or directed by company policy? I would also suggest those who are on FlyerTalk is more astute in the workings of "Loyalty" programs than the general flying public. I suppose this time next year we all will have a better understanding how this impacts who will qualify for 1K, Plat, Gold, etc. I am sure someone will create a thread to document qualifying criteria and benchmarks.

I book 220 tickets from AU to DE via USA, the TPAC is always UA and TATL is always LH (both return), I have one booked from Feb to May next year and in my UA FF it predicts my PQPs, which is 38% of 1K qualification and in the past the PQM was over 50% of 1K qualification. So if you have any UA sector on your ticket you will get a PQP prediction in your booking for 2020. I even have a booking that spans 2019 & 2020 and it predicts PQM in 2019 and PQP in 2020. I think we will see how it unfolds in the new year

Split the biz
I stuck with UA since 2004 when I started really flying INT'L. Changes were enough this year to give me pause, still have 105K PQM with UA but only will end the year giving them $10k of biz on 016 tix. Had flights on TAP, LX, LH, SQ and TK in biz and they were so nice I actually feel liberated like many others on FT about the change rather then being devoted to UA. Delta got $4K and 32 segments and Jet Blue 14 segments and 2k. Will miss 1K and some of the fun of chasing status but it will be nice next year to chose best airline and the most direct route at the best price in the COS that I want to fly. Not sure how 2018 and 2019 changes have helped UA is this year their piggery cost them $2500, $2300, $3200, $1600 on Star Alliance partners + my spend on other domestic carriers. Their loss not mine.

I learned the same thing this year flying on cheaper fares on TAP, LX, SQ, TK, and LH. If you want biz pay for discount biz.

Since the change at United is likely to encourage lower revenue customers to seek a match, I wouldn’t be surprised to see AA and DL include a dollar challenge. It probably won’t happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
What’s more likely is that they’ll status match and then follow United in a year, hoping they can keep the converts.

I have to say that the changes will actually help me. As a short haul, single segment flyer out of EWR my average 40,000 PQM, 45 PQS, and 12,000 PQD a year will actually get more than *Silver for once. I understand the frustration for long haul flyers, but for those who fly the east coast with an occasional west coast flight in the mix it is a recognition of loyalty for some of us.

As 1MM members, the changes don't affect us. Since leaving SFO as a home base, we have no chance of ever flying enough for higher status, so we don't worry about it. Also, for the last five years, almost all of our flying has been on award tickets anyway, and will likely be the same for the forseeable future.

I booked a non-016 TATL business ticket with mixed UA segments. PQP in reservation is showing just under 3,000 which is in line with my calculations based on distance and estimated UA fare. Of course, I will have to wait until I fly to see what will actually be credited.
