An upgrade instrument would have worked! OP - don't be led to believe that this is a "normal" result. Week of the 4th of July.

lot's of empty cabins today. Some went out 20/28. Of course the numerous MX issues didn't help, saw 4-5 flights with in part massive delays

FYI - this 1K was able to use an RPU on SFO-EWR for July 9 (red eye). Perhaps because it is the week after July 4.

LAX-BOS
Is the LAX- BOS route considered premium transcontinental, and if so do the flights come with lounge access?

No and no, though most frequencies are operated with lie-flat 16J 752s. 753 also thrown into the mix 1x daily.

So on my upcoming flight from Boston to LAX nonstop, the meal service won't have the ice cream sundae and pre arrival wraps? Based on the menu from my LAX - EWR - LAX flight 2 weeks ago, I thought it was the same menu.

Boston is listed on that menu because BOS-SFO is a premium transcon route, but not BOS-LAX.

Today both UA240 (EWR-LAX) and UA2418 (LAX-EWR) are 773 instead of scheduled 787-10. I've noticed UA240 has been a 773 on at least one other occasion this week. UA2418 has otherwise consistently been a 787-10. I'm curious whether this is maintenance driven or they need the larger bird for cargo demand?
