Not withstanding taste, looking at the presentation ,without it being on this thread I would have said it was tier 1 airline coach meal

That looks suspiciously similar to my (quite tasty) DL domestic F meal

Which is irrelevant if it is as delicious as the poster said.

Yeah, presentation definitely matters, and that previously posted picture of the short rib did NOT look appetizing at all, despite being [reportedly] delicious.
If United gets wind that their J passengers don't care about presentation, they may opt to provide their meals in a can (as long it tastes good).

I don't need an airline to build up my ego. If they feed me a delicious meal, I am happy.

Presentation is not about ego, it's about visual appeal. Studies confirm that visual appeal impacts how human beings react to a meal. See, e.g., Eating with Our Eyes
Not everyone shares these low standards.

This may be the first time I've ever heard that presenting a meal in an appetizing way somehow relates to having an 'inflated feeling of pride in one's superiority to others'.
I cook some pretty basic meals at home sometimes, but always try and make some rudimentary effort in presenting them in a nice & appetizing way; ...it would be nice if United did the same.

Same as the recent EUR==>US menus posted above. I went with the pasta dish thinking it would be in the bowl instead of the casserole dish, but alas, turned out it was the poached cod that was served in a bowl, It looked a lot nicer than my casserole dish. I really dislike the visuals of the casserole dish. Good crew that re-filled regularly. I'm surprised UA is now listing the hot bites even as they dropped the wine listings. Tried the pre-arrival pizza for the first time; should have opted for the chicken ratatouille.

recently flew EWR to NRT and back in Polaris.
The food was painfully average. I often wonder if most UA customers had been able to experience Japanese food on NH or Korean food on OZ or the food/presentation on BR if they would stop settling for the Golden Corral meals in J on UA.
