Welcome to this thread to ask your basic, simple questions about United Airlines, its operations, or the MileagePlus program. We know that the airline is complex and we’ve created this thread for new and veteran members to ask those basic questions about United Airlines that you think must have an easy answer but just can’t find it or aren’t sure where to look.

Anyone else had this experience with the reservations and current receipt (not the original receipt but the one you can obtain by requesting the receipt currently)?
Request a resend of the receipt, and that should reset everything to normal.

Flying HKG-SFO with 2 others, then SFO-ORD on separate PNR by myself, all UA operated. I am GS.

Odds UA will let me split off from the group PNR and then SDC to HKG-ORD direct by myself? I know this isn’t allowed per policy since flights were booked separately.

If not, will HKG ticketing agent let me check my bag through to ORD? And is this different if I check in at the airport vs. In Town Check In at the subway?

Low probability and only can happen with an airport agent day of travel.

Are the tickets all the same fare class?

Still not showing on reissued receipt or the reservation. :-(

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but if I book a ticket through Aer Lingus with a segment that is operated by UA (IAD-DUB), will I be able to select E+ seats on this UA-operated leg without payment of any extra fees (I am UA MP Gold)? Thanks.

Yes, as long as you have your MP number on the reservation.

Hi all,

So, while I reached 100K miles PQM this year, I managed to do so without so much as one UA segment. So... I've booked a little run to get the elusive 4 segments (and yes tried for the Club card, no go, out of the country). Question is this... I'm Gold now, with the 4 segments I'll qualify for 1K. What happens when you pass "Platinum"?... Since technically I was never Platinum, will I get the RPUs for that level and then get the RPUs and GPUs for 1K? From what I understand, all of this will of course kick in once the "4th" segment registers, yes? So, any chance that the new status will help with my upgrade waitlist status on the last of the four segments? I assume not...

Thanks.

I believe that technically you won't be Plat, just go straight to 1K after 4th segment. At that point you will get 4 RPUs and 6 GPUs, and theoretically better u/g chances ( )

I have a lot of RPUs and GPUs left which are basically unusable for me. However, I have a domestic flight in January, coast to coast ( SAN_EWR ). I will book in Coach and try to apply
one of the instruments. Does a GPU trump a RPU, or is there no difference? Thanks.

On an RPU eligible flight, no difference.

Thanks, good to know. I highly doubt that I will be successful.

REFUND of United Club Lounge Membership fee after 30 days?
I have purchased a United Club Lounge Membership card ($450/year for 1K) and am halfway through the current year. I am traveling much less than expected and am hardly using the lounge access. Is there any way to get a prorated refund? Upon calling they say after 30 days there is no way to get the refund, but I'm wondering if other members have had success asking for the refund as courtesy or by some other means?

I think that the only way to get a prorated refund after the 30 days is to get the Chase United MileagePlus Club Card (which gives you access to the UCs) but the fee for the card is $450/year. Now I don't remember if some times they have an offer for no fee the first year.

Yeah, I think you could get the club card and get a prorated fee refund, then cancel the club card and get a prorated CC annual fee refund.

So I input my MP number on the LH booking site and after about trying about three different versions of my title - and being told all three versions were incorrect as they did not match my MP number I gave up on inputting my MP number and just booked the ticket. Has anyone else had an issue with the LH booking site not accepting their MP number? I will provide the number when I check in but was wondering if others have experienced similar issues. TIA
