What is the deal with the beef w/ mac & cheese dish? Seems like the only entree lately

Because there are no fresh items, like raw vegetables, in it. Same with the lentil and polenta dish, which used to include sautéed spinach.

There are other things they could be doing - steak, fish or chicken with polenta or rice or dehydrated mashed potatoes, lasagna or other cheese pasta dishes, chili with beans, etc etc. It just looks like they don't really care, which is a big contributor to the overall problem.

Nailed it. Sadly.

Asbestos?

Had a lovely DEN based cabin crew last night! Purser said they haven't told them anything but rumor has it they discovered asbestos during the rebuild...

I'd more likely believe what I watched on X-Files last week.

Given the inability to simply remodel a club such as DFW in a reasonable time, its only logical that flight crews will come up with new "theory's" about why catering out of DEN is falling apart. Asbestos hasn't been used in commercial construction in decades. Given the age of the facility I would bet more on Bitcoin than Asbestos issues. It's rare to run into modern buildings with this issue, and its also rare to find a building that take many months to deal with a health issue as originally reported. This goofy catering issue with zero communication is absurd, and rumors only make it worse from flight crews which only add to the insult. At this point I would rather UA tell me all DEN catered flights are what they are, as they have decided to make it their low cost hub, as its all about the "connectivity and simple math", or so I'm told as of the earnings call...

With some effort, maybe UA could lobby Denver to rename the airport TED.:)

Some of those items come packed with some cabbage ontop, so that after they're heated in the ovens, they aren't bone dry. When plating, the FAs throw out the cabbage, so customers only see it when it slips by.

Still, there's no excuse for poor communication - both to customers and employees. That's how theories like the asbestos thing come out and can't be immediately shot down, because no matter how unlikely, the fact of the matter is, we don't know what's wrong. It could've been a grizzly riding a great white shark that came through the pipes for all we've heard.

Sounds like a bunch of horse manure - somebody making stuff up because they don't know the real reason.

As COSPILOT said above, Asbestos was banned in the US beginning in 1989 and hasn't been used in commercial construction since the early 80's. DIA was built in 1995.

Another unintended result of this - I flew AKL/SFO/DEN yesterday and by the time I hit the SFO DEN flight I was breakfasted out. I actually got the FC upgrade(GPU but only upgraded while on the flight out of AKL). I asked the FA if I could have a cheeseburger from the back because of the other breakfasts & she got it & the chips, even !) Having a cheeseburger with the veggies made it seem utterly luxurious after flying out of Denver all of the times since the catering snafu.

Why would a flight TO DEN have the catering problem? Isn't it possible to cater from SFO? I type this in Denver, having fortified myself with a burger at Timberline in the C concourse to withstand whatever they throw at me on my next flight. Thank you PriorityPass!

Pretty sure he was saying that a burger with lettuce and tomato from SFO is luxurious compared to the dry ones out of DEN

Got it! The Timberline burgers aren't bad either.

I finally found time today to send an email to GS listing all the flights since my last email catering wasn’t up to published standards. It contained quite a few flights that were double catered out of ORD going from YYC to DEN that had the processed cheese pack instead of dinner.
In total 70% of my flights Nov-Jan were catered with the cheese pack.

DEN-SNA right now....16gouda burgers. Nothing else....
