Seems they removed the overwhelming demand line and now it just says:
The new united.com is temporarily unavailable.
During this time travelers may use the United mobile app and airport kiosks to check in for their flights.

The old site works just fine (my Safari browser still defaults to the old site).
This seems to be something specifically wrong with the new site. "Overwhelming demand" doesn't seem to be as likely as a rogue code migration or a deliberate attack.

The Trib is reporting the site is working again, although it still isn't for me.
